When I was an Officer, many times I arrested Spanish speakers, or Spanish speakers who knew a few words or phrases of English.
Their favorite threat was: " I get my gun --I choot jou"
Often they added--" I choot jou family" or " I chhot jour wife".

Violence and use of deadly force is a way of life for them.
Their police do not protect them-- the Policia protect those wealthy enough to pay them off.

A Phoenix police officer was wounded during a traffic stop in central Phoenix Satudray night, while the shooter fled, stormed an apartment and held a man hostage, investigators said.
The officer, Jennifer Moore, was a passenger in a patrol car when she and her partner, officer Benjamin Ippel, made the traffic stop at 2100 E. Taylor St., police said.
Investigators said two people inside the vehicle were asked to get out and that's when the passenger, Aaron Baca Lopez, opened fire.
The bullet struck Moore in the finger before lodging in her protective chest vest, Phoenix Police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said.
Ippel returned fire and pursued Lopez as he fled on foot, Hill said.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was taken into custody.
Moore was taken to the hospital by fellow officers where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the vest probably saved her life.
Around midnight, police said Lopez forced his way into an apartment in the 2100 block of E. Fillmore and took a man hostage.
"He just came in knocking at the door," said Cesar Patricio. "He pushed my dad and put a gun to his head."
Patricio said the intruder was a complete surprise.
"The guy just said, 'I just shot a police lady and I just run away from it and i'm just here to hide,'" Patricio said.
The victim was able to escape and called police.
"When the guy was finally asleep, my dad just ran out the door," Patricio said. "He saw the police on the street and started talking to the police."
After hours of negotiations, Lopez surrendered without incident about 4:40 a.m., Hill said.
Lopez was booked in the county jail for aggravated assault on a police officer and aggravated assault and kidnapping.
Moore is a patrol officer from Central City precinct. She's been an officer for just under a year.

Since any venture has to be financed, they soon became suspect as making money at the expense of the country they lived in.

Adolph Hitler touted himself by telling the German people that the Jews had sold Germany out during World War I, in which he was an Army Corporal. He added another ingredient, Ethnic Cleansing, to further dehumanize them.

Business in the United States went from craftsmen who made needed goods to mass production.
Mass production introduced Big Business [BB]to us.

The goal of BB became to show a profit to the Stockholders. Two factors interfered with this goal: Unions and Government.

To counter these detriments, BB sent factories overseas. Another counter is the employing of Illegal Aliens. Since they are Illegal, Big Business can get away with paying them a third of what an American Worker must have to subsist .

However, in the process, Big Business is giving all the benefits of our country away. They are giving away our sovereignty, to get a better "Bottom Line"

In the case of the Jews, much was simply fantasy, but since Jews had been blamed for anything bad for two thousand years--it was easy. I the case of Big Business, the usual accusers are Liberal Democrats, accusing them of Greed.

Wit until some other groups who depend on Government assistance finds out Big Business gave theirs to Illegal Aliens.

Cell industry crafts law to override text ban

Arizona’s cell phone industry was shaken up by Phoenix’s new law banning texting while driving and is crafting its own state law that could override local ordinances.

One state legislator called the industry’s proposal “completely disingenuous.”

Susan Bitter Smith, lobbyist for the Arizona Competitive Telecommunications Association, said the new Phoenix law unfairly targets cell phone texting by motorists as a cause of accidents.

That ordinance, which took effect this week, provides fines up to $100 for drivers who send or receive text messages on cell phones and other handheld devices while their vehicle is moving.The penalty is $250 if there is an accident.

The move came over the objections of the cellular industry, which earlier this year beat back a similar proposal by Rep. Steve Farley, D-Tucson, for a statewide ban on texting while driving.

Bitter Smith said attorneys are researching whether cities have the legal right to impose their own texting laws. But Bitter Smith said a simpler way to resolve the issue is a statewide law, one that covers all issues of distracted driving. She said that could include not just texting but other activities that can be dangerous, ranging from eating while behind the wheel to turning around to yell at the kids in the back seat.

Farley said Bitter Smith’s legislation is a sham.

In the 1950's, if you voted for a politician, you were certain that his intent was to make decisions and cast a vote for what was good for the majority of AMERICANS.

Decisions are made based on HOW MUCH MORE MONEY CAN I MAKE?

Examples:

Near the Mexico Border in San Diego, sit outside a school. Watch who drops off kids. About 60% are cars with Baja Calif Plates. You would think the School administrators would be outraged. Nope--They don't care. Why? Because every kid in that school gets them more money. They just count the kids. Where they come from is "Don't ask-Don't tell".

In California, if you start a business, the Dept of Insurance watches. You must provide a Worker's Compensation Insurance Policy, which is VERY expensive. Worker's Comp Insurance is like your car insurance--Have a crash, and your premium goes up. Have a worker get hurt, and your premium goes up. Insurers never ask where a Claimant is from, unless it looks like a fraud claim. They don't care--as long as the Employer pays the premium. One adjuster, speaking of fraud, stated that unless fraud could be proven, payments were made. It was said "If in doubt--pay out".

It was interesting to watch congress persons and senators posture to please Code Pink, Move-on.org, and other assorted "Peace Advocates".

One of the Faustian characters was Rep. Tom Lantos, D-San Mateo, CA.

This old fool lambasted into General David Howell Petraeus like he was some errant Private First Class who was here to confess to a multitude of sins.

Lantos basically accused the General of being a liar--before he started his report.

Well, Mr Lantos--have I got a clue for you. It goes both ways.

You Democrats LOVE to spew hate, find fault, and profess to be understanding, accommodating, and compassionate. BULLSHIT.

If a person has virtues and values, you don't emulate him/her--You try to tear them down to your sewer-line position.

Any intelligent person can soon deduce that that is what in progress. That person then has a question: What are you lacking that makes you attack this person?"

Dining at Taco Bell

After a trip to my wife's doctor, we stopped at a pharmacy, dropped off prescriptions, and since they said it wouldn't be ready for at least thirty minutes and it was now 1730 hours ( 5:30 PM), we decided to look nearby for something to eat.

This is in cottonwood, Arizona, on Highway 89A, the main street of the town.

I had almost a distaste for Taco Bell. This came from going to Taco Bell franchises in California.

The places always had some part that was not clean, the attendants demonstrated that English was their second language, and the food was blah.

This Taco Bell in Cottonwood has obviously been there for some time. There are indications of age .

BUT--You get inside, and your whole outlook changes. The bathroom door doesn't have five coats of paint, and there isn't toilet paper and water on the floor in the bathroom. The counter man is Jay, a guy about 18. He speaks perfect English, and he was born here. He is very knowledgeable about what his store serves. My wife wants something tasty but not too spicy as she recently had session of chemotherapy. We place our order and sit down. Not too long passes and Jay calls our number.

The food is hot and is good. No Bland here.

As I sat there eating, a light came on in my mind:
1. For Jay, this was an entry job. I'm sure he will move on to college, and a more prestigious job.

For Hispanics (READ Illegal Aliens)who come here and want benefits but not to put out an effort, this would be their life's work.

2. Since the Hispanics make this their Life's Work, they are denying some young citizen an entry level job.

Sgt. Mike Doherty, a 20-year veteran, will be disciplined for making an insulting gesture twice with his hands at a group of about 30 protesters when he drove past them Wednesday at Alma School Road and Main Street in his marked police truck, said spokeswoman Holly Hosac.

A few protesters took down Doherty’s license plate number and description and reported him to the department, Hosac said.Neither Doherty nor a representative of Immigrants Without Borders, which organized the protest, could be reached for comment late Thursday.

The Mesa protest group was among several throughout the Valley who were trying to bring attention to new laws that will punish employers for hiring illegal immigrants.Their signs said things such as “I am your cook,” and “Sorry your house isn’t clean.”Doherty told Mesa investigators his gestures were not ethnically motivated, pointing out that his wife is Hispanic, Hosac said.He told them “he just has a general distaste for protesters,” she said.

In the early 70's, a fellow Officer had to go to court in downtown Los Angeles.

The City Attorney subpoenas you to be there at 8:00 AM, but you have to sit through the cases in front of you.

A man was contesting the search of his car by a Los Angeles Police motorcycle rider.

His attorney alleged that the Officer had no "Probable Cause" to stop the man, charged with transporting and possesion for sale of drugs.

The Officer testified that he was westbound on Wilshire Bl. when he noticed the man driving eastbound, as the man neared and passed, he raised his middle finger to the Officer. The Officer executed a u-turn and stopped the man to ascertain what his hostility stemmed from. After stopping the man, an odor was noted of leaf marijuana, and a search turned up some "Bricks" in the back seat, convered with a blanket.

The judge then declared that this was no reason to stop the man, and elaborated that this was simply a gesture with no special meaning behind it, and dismissed the case.

The Officer then stood up, raised his mid-finger to the judge and said, " Have a nice day, your honor"

The judge exploded, and ordered the baliff to take the offcer into custody. At this point, the defendant's attorney rose and said, "Your Honor, you just got through saying it was a gesture meaning nothing". The Officer was released.

Billy Dale had worked in the White House travel office for three decades. He had served 7 presidents and one horse's *ss (and we are not counting Jimmy Carter as the horse's *ss). But Hillary Clinton wanted Dale and his associates gone. She wanted him gone very badly. Harry Thomason was owed a big favor for getting rape victim Elizabeth Ward Gracen out of the country on an acting gig during the 1992 campaign.
What had Dale done to Hillary? The answer is he had done nothing. Dale and six others were simply in the way of her plans.
Most Americans do not know that during the 1992 campaign, the Clintons used an Arkansas travel agency, World Wide Travel. They worked with a Clinton cousin, Catherine Cornelius. WWT provided a million dollars in deferred travel for the Clinton campaign, freeing up much needed cash for campaigning. Employees of the firm donated to the Clinton campaign.
It gets even better. The supposed investigation against Travel Office "accounting improprieties" was headed by…..are you ready…headed by none other than Cornelius herself just as she was planning with World Wide Travel for a reorganization that would put her in charge of the department. She gets a good job and Thomasson gets a hugely profitable business.
The Clintons had every right to simply dismiss Dale and the others and bring in their own people. Hillary, the brains behind the operation, not only had Dale fired, but also tried to send him to prison. Firing was not good enough. In May of 1993 the employees were given one hour's notice to clean out their desks, and they were escorted away in a windowless van. The replacement was made without competitive bid.
Dale was very popular with the White House press corps. He knew them all and treated them very well. The firing and trumped-up charges against Dale became a public relations nightmare, so Hillary had to distance herself. Keeping in mind that the first instinct of the Clintons is always to lie, that is exactly what she did. She claimed that he had nothing to do with the firing.
The nightmare grew worse for Dale as the FBI was brought in and he was charged with embezzling money from the Travel Office. At one point, the cost of trial would have been so prohibitively expensive that Dale tried to do a plea bargain to just make it go away. Fortunately, the government did not accept a plea bargain. When it came to trial, Dale was acquitted by the jury in under 2 hours. What they did to him was in incredible injustice. Not surprisingly, as has happened to most of the Clinton enemies, the IRS also came after him.
There are, however, more twists and turns to this story that most of America has either forgotten or never knew. In December of 1993, a request was made by the White House for Dale's FBI file. The reason for the request was to evaluate Dale for "access to the building." What? He had been fired seven months earlier. The Clintons, of course, along with the rest of their criminal enterprise, blocked and misled investigators looking into the treatment of Dale.
While Hillary claimed not to be involved in the firing, the following information exists:
"periodic reports from Vince Foster that [the] First Lady had inquired about [the] Travel Office and why wasn't action being taken_report was that they should be fired immediately and out of here by the end of the day."-- Subpoenaed notes of David Watkins.
"went to Mac . . . Hillary wants these people fired . . . Mac wouldn't do it ... DW [David Watkins] didn't want to do it."-- Lorraine Voles, deputy Press Secretary, noted that she had heard Susan Thomases say.
"[Patsy] Thomason comes back in DW's [office]_says he bumped into Hillary and she's ready to fire them all that day.''-- Mr. Watkins' contemporaneous handwritten notes detail a conversation that he had with Harry Thomason.
"Harry says his people can run things better; save money, etc. And besides we need those people out_we need our people in_We need the slots_ . . . Is the real story to be told?''-- David Watkins notes of a conversation with the First Lady on May 14, 1993.
Yes, Hillary was in this thing up to her eyeballs. It was abuse of power and an attempt to ruin the life of a civil servant. She was behind Travelgate just as she has been behind almost every abuse of power we witnessed for eight excruciatingly long years.
Robert Ray, who succeeded Ken Starr, apparently thought that an indictment of Hillary for perjury would not be good on his resume as he planned to seek elective office. One more gutless prosecutor and Hillary remains free.

There are now 162,000 American troops in Iraq, the most ever. The surge tactics, of constantly chasing after terrorist groups, has left more of the terrorist leaders vulnerable. This week, the guy who planned the two bombing attacks on the Shia Al Askaria (Golden Dome) mosque in Samarra was killed up north. In nearby Mosul, the local Sunni Arab community is becoming even more vicious, knowing that their politicians have been unable to obtain amnesty for the terrorist leaders who have been presiding over the bombers and death squads in the northern oil city. The Sunni Arabs must have Mosul, because it's where about a third of Iraq's oil is. If Iraqi gets split up into a federated union, the Sunni Arabs need oil. But the Kurds want the oil as well, and are ready to ignore U.S. calls for calm, and launch an ethnic cleaning campaign. All the Sunni Arabs would be driven out of Mosul. To do this would risk fighting with American troops, but the Kurds, and other minorities in the area, are fed up with Sunni Arab terrorism, and want either peace, or peace through revenge.
The 120,000 troops of the Iraqi army are really at war now. There are two divisions around Ramadi, two in Mosul, two around Kirkuk and Baquba, one south of Baghdad and two in Basra. Three more divisions are in the process of forming. The quality of these divisions, and even battalions within the divisions, varies with the quality of the officers. Too many of the officers are inexperienced, or corrupt. A major function of U.S. advisor teams assigned to divisional, brigade and battalion headquarters, is to provide their American bosses with an accurate assessment of just what the advised Iraqi officers are capable of. No point in asking these Iraqi army units to do more than they can handle. As a result, the Iraqi troops have been racking up a long string of battlefield successes. Some Iraqi generals protest that more could be done with Iraqi troops, but these generals are not paying attention to what the American advisors are seeing.
In Baghdad and in the south, uncooperative Shia militias, especially the Mahdi Army, are under attack. Their leaders are being rounded up, along with raids on militia headquarters and seizure of records showing the support from Iran.
The 138,000 police are another matter. Although they are the "National Police," the cops are recruited locally, and generally serve in their own neighborhoods. This makes for a lot of corruption and partisan. Warlords and gang bosses consider it mandatory to get control of the local police, through the customary bribes and intimidation. It doesn't always work, but it does often enough to make most Iraqi cops unreliable. The ineffective police are a major complaint of the average Iraqi. Then again, no one can remember a time when Iraqi police were anything but ineffective.
The corruption remains as bad as ever. The Iraqi government is mainly interested in two things; putting as much hurt as possible on the Sunni Arab community, and stealing as much money as possible. The anti-Sunni Arab stuff comes from public opinion. Politicians stay office, at least in a democracy, by doing what the voters what. A majority of Iraqis (the 90 percent who are not Sunni Arab), want the Sunni Arabs to suffer for their sins (centuries of domination, Saddam, the current terrorism). The U.S. has been trying to get the government to make peace with the Sunni Arabs. But the Americans cannot get enough Sunni Arabs to admit they have done bad things, and must accept some blame from the majority government. Too many Sunni Arabs believe they are being wronged, and that they will eventually prevail. This deadlock led to most Sunni Arab ministers quitting the government. The U.S. is caught in the middle. Many local Sunni Arab leaders (tribal and clan chiefs) have turned against the al Qaeda and Iraqi terrorist groups. They want peace. But the many Sunni Arab leaders with blood on their hands, won't accept peace that puts them at risk of being tried for war crimes.
The stealing, and corruption in general, is seen as a perk of office, whether elected or appointed. Officials are expected to grab goodies for their supporters. Not much different than the "pork barrel" politics in any democracy (where legislators are expected to get money for local needs), but on a much larger scale. There's something of a competition to see who can steal the most for themselves and their supporters.

Get too greedy, and you might be one of the few officials who gets prosecuted.

The Iraqis have figured out that it's a good idea to prosecute a few corrupt officials to keep the Americans happy.

Many Iraqis also have a hard time figuring out exactly what the Americans mean by "clean government."

There is definitely a bad case of cultural confusion here.

Meanwhile, the government has made peace with Turkey, by promising a crackdown on the Turkish PKK (Kurdish separatist) rebels who have refuges in northern Iraq. Promising and doing are two different things. The Iraqi prime minister making the promise is a Shia Arab. The people who run northern Iraq are Kurds. But if this promise is not kept, the Turks threaten to invade, and clean out the camps. This time, the Turks are demanding performance, or else.

Teacher faces discipline

Rocklin Unified School District will discipline but not dismiss a teacher who allegedly roughed up a student.
John Michael Bosco, 47, faces discipline for the incident in which a 16-year-old student at Whitney High School alleged he was shoved backward over his chair and grabbed around the neck, the district said.
Bosco and the student were engaged in good-natured teasing when the boy began asking personal questions about Bosco's daughter, causing the teacher to react, according to police who investigated the June 1 incident.
Superintendent Kevin Brown would not disclose the disciplinary action, saying it was a personnel matter.
"The conclusion of our investigation was that there was a degree of inappropriate conduct, and corrective action with appropriate consequences would be taken," Brown said.
Bosco was placed on a paid administrative leave after the incident. The student was not suspended.

Last week, the Placer County District Attorney's Office announced it was declining to prosecute Bosco because of insufficient evidence

Neither Bosco nor his attorney, Margaret Geddes, returned calls to The Bee.

Judge Nancy Gertner told a packed courtroom that agents were trying to protect informants when they encouraged a witness to lie, then withheld evidence they knew could prove the four men were not involved in the 1965 murder of Edward "Teddy" Deegan, a small-time thug shot in an alley.
Gertner said Boston FBI agents knew mob hitman Joseph "The Animal" Barboza lied when he named Joseph Salvati, Peter Limone, Henry Tameleo and Louis Greco as Deegan's killers. She said the FBI considered the four "collateral damage" in its war against the Mafia, the bureau's top priority in the 1960s.
Tameleo and Greco died behind bars, and Salvati and Limone spent three decades in prison before they were exonerated in 2001. Salvati, Limone and the families of the other men sued the federal government for malicious prosecution.

Illegals kill a dozen per day? Wait a Minute(man)
Psssst…..Have you heard? Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens.
The figure comes to us via a “SPECIAL MESSAGE” e-mail from “Stephen Frank’s ‘California Political News and Views’.”
They source it to the “Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.”
The Minutemen, in turn, cite a “report” by Representative Steve King of Iowa.
But Rep. King’s press release attributes the 12 per day figure to………nothing.
No source is cited. The trail is cold.
Anecdotes aside, we actually know precious little about the total volume of crimes committed by illegal aliens. Reason: The FBI’s uniform crime reports, regarded as the most reliable and comprehensive source of crime data, does not record nativity of perpetrators—let alone their legal status. Even the ethnicity of arrestees is obscured by lumping Hispanics in with Anglo whites.
Not for the first time, the government apparently just doesn’t want to hear bad news about immigration’s impact.
Even so, the FBI stats do tend to undercut the Frank/Minuteman/King assertions. Of the 10,083 individuals arrested for murder in 2005, only 4,955 were white/Hispanic. At 12 per day, illegals would kill 4,380 per year.
Implication: nearly all of the white/Hispanics arrested for murder in 2005 would have to be illegal aliens for the 12/day factoid to be credible.
Of course, the 12/day refers to murders, not perpetrators. If illegals are disproportionately mass murderers, a handful could have done it. Alternatively, illegals may get away with murder at greater rates than the rest of us. That would indeed be the case if most of their victims were other illegals, with no next of kin to report their disappearance.
Several states break out Hispanic arrests separately. In California, for example, 946 Hispanics were arrested for murder in 2005. (Table 1.) An estimated 2.8 million illegals – equivalent to about one-quarter of California’s Hispanic population – lived there in 2005, according to the Census. (That’s probably an egregious underestimate since the Census survey on which it is based puts the total U.S. illegal alien population at 11.5 million, a figure thought low by many.)
My conservative calculation: If one-quarter of the Hispanics arrested for murder were illegals, then 0.65 murders per day could, on average, be attributed to illegals. California is home to about one-quarter of all illegals. So by extrapolation, illegals could kill 2.6 persons per day across the U.S.
Ouch. That’s certainly less than 12. But it’s still a lot.
Moreover, Hispanic homicide rates are increasing faster than those of other groups. (See Table 1 again.) From 2000 to 2005, California’s Hispanic murder rate (arrests per 100,000 Hispanic population) rose 16.8 percent, to 7.44.

On October 19, 2003, the ex-quarterback for the University of Colorado football team, John Hesler, was driving his Honda Accord on Interstate 76 in Colorado when it was clipped by an SUV sending it across a median and into the path of a pickup truck, causing a horrific accident. The driver and passenger of the SUV fled the scene and haven't been found. The Colorado State Patrol told Hesler's family that they most likely are in Mexico. As of March 2006, John Hesler was still going through extensive physical therapy. The car that caused the accident did not have insurance. Since the driver was not apprehended or ticketed, no one knows whether he had a license. Most likely he did not, but even if so, false documentation is a major problem in Colorado, as well as across the USA.
For now, let’s look at only one area of the United States: the East Coast. For a detailed report on what is happening on the roads and highways of the East Coast, see the article Harvest of death on the Eastern Shore where it is reported that while 5% of the population is Hispanic in the area, they are involved in 25% of the fatal traffic accidents, an astounding 5 times as much participation as representation! Given the fact that most of the Hispanic community is, like other ethnic groups, law abiding and responsible citizens, that means that the illegal alien portion of the Hispanic community is even worse. How much worse no one knows because no one is tracking it.
A review of State Police auto accident reports for 2002 through 2004 for that area of the Eastern Shore also revealed that of the 179 accidents involving Hispanic laborers:
· 75% of the drivers had no auto insurance.
· Nearly all of the vehicles driven by migrants were registered to other drivers.
· 93% of the vehicles had false out-of-state tags.
In 2003 and 2004, 128 of the 395 people, 32.4%, arrested on DUI charges were Hispanic, a rate six times greater than the Hispanic portion of the population.
The article goes on, “When crashes occur, it is not uncommon for Hispanic drivers – often intoxicated and unlicensed – to flee before troopers arrive. According to State Police records, about a third of accidents involving migrant workers are hit-and-run. State Trooper Koushel said migrants often cannot be conclusively identified when they’re stopped for a violation or involved in an accident.” “Many”, he said, “are illegal aliens who carry fake or invalid driver’s licenses”. “Because of that”, he said, “many fail to show up in court. It’s almost like writing a ticket to a ghost.”

Illegal aliens who drive without licenses often cannot read English. As a result, they don’t know the rules of the road and can’t read highway signs. Couple that with the higher tendency for DUI driving, and many illegal aliens are the worst drivers on the road, as noted by some of the various traffic accident statistics cited in this paper. Add in the fact that they generally have no insurance and that makes them, as a group, the most irresponsible drivers on the road, as well.
As noted in No license to drive: Illegal immigrant drivers creating problem in De Queen, Arkansas, population 5,765:
“Hispanic drivers in De Queen without driver’s licenses have become an accident waiting to happen, an official said. “The majority of Hispanics have no driver’s license and they’re part of the illegal immigration problem. If they’re here illegally, they can’t get into the system to get driver’s license. In most cases they don’t have car insurance either,” said Mayor Billy Ray McKelvy.
The drivers also have no vehicle insurance and no liability insurance, says McKelvy.
…In the last two months, De Queen has been averaging about an accident per week involving Hispanic drivers with no driver’s licenses. Ten vehicles have been involved and the average amount of damage per vehicle was estimated to be $3,000. So far, none of the crashes in De Queen have been fatal.”

So, my proposal is this:

Pass a law, making the Employer LIABLE if an Illegal Alien harms or kills a member of your family.

Almost every day, you hear of someone either being terminated, transferred, or re-assigned.

In almost every case, the affected person vows to appeal and/or retaliate.

The case in mind is about the U S Prosecutors who were fired.

To my view, this is one of the factors that is a "Business killer" now.

The case was that these APPOINTED prosecutors wilfully or negligently did not follow orders, did not prosecute ( Carol Lam of San Diego had a rule that a smuggler of Illegal Aliens HAD TO BE CAUGHT TWELVE TIMES..before she would prosecute... She reveled in prosecuting White Collar crime and Randy " Duke" Cunningham)

The consistent violation ignored by these people was failure-or refusal--to prosecute voter fraud.

The President APPOINTS these people, and therefore, can fire them at will--for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason.

But here come the meddlers. A fact I found in Law Enforcement was that the general population would not tell their dentist or plumber what to do, but everyone knew better how to be a law enforcer that I was doing.

To me, there are several deleterious effects:

A. The IGNORANT have been given a voice and power in almost everything. So, you have people whose only exposure to the outside world is to drive to work or play, but they are listened to about how the run the war in Iraq.

B. Decisions to fire someone are contested based on popularity of the person, or the Agenda of the complainer. It is said that the Democrats want to shift negative attention on to the President, and AWAY from their Democratic Voter Fraud efforts.

C. Employers will be hesitant to hire anyone. The personnel regulations and current law reserve a myriad number of things that are confidential or do not have to be released by the applicant.

Many people were somewhat relieved when the latest attempt to give citizenship to 12 to 20 MILLION Illegal Alliens failed.

The image you see looks like a handgun...but is not.

The vast Homeland Security is much the same.

The problem began in the 1960's with Doctor Spock and his "Child Psychology". His approach was to "Reason" and "Negotiate" with children.

You had to talk to chidren, and not use any physical force. That way, the child had no apprehension of a penalty or punishment.

As time went on, there were people who did not want to punish. EXAMPLE:

In California, possession of ANY marijuana was a Felony, punished by time in prison and loss of right to vote. But, the "Kinder, Gentler" (KG ) folks declared,"Everybody is doing it and we shouldn't make them criminals". A lot of these were in the legislature, and they passed a bill that declared that possession of less than an ounce of Marijuana was an INFRACTION, punishable only by :1. receiving a citation, and 2. a fine.

How about Immigration? IN 1986, Congress passed an amnesty for persons who could prove they had been in the US for some time.

EnforcementIRCA had bipartisan support, being passed by a Republican-dominated Senate and a Democratic majority House; major actors were Sen. Alan Simpson (Rep. Wyo.) and Congressman Peter Rodino (Dem. N.J.), chairs, respectively of the Senate immigration subcommittee and of the House Judiciary Committee. The legislative package was sold as a grand compromise, assuring legalization for the more senior (and more rural) of the undocumented aliens while creating a new system, employer sanctions, to prevent employers from hiring illegal aliens in the future. (The latter was very much desired by the AFL-CIO at the time, then under different leadership than today.)

Prior to 1986 it had been illegal for an undocumented worker to be in the country, and it was illegal for people to “harbor” such aliens, but it had not been against the law to employ them. Employers and the immigration bar disliked the idea, but with the agricultural interests satisfied by the SAW provisions and a stand-by Replacement Agricultural Worker8 program, the grand compromise of some legalization and some employer sanctions made it through the Congress. But passing laws and enforcing them are two different matters.

The Reagan Administration and Republicans, generally, never were very enthusiastic about the enforcement of labor laws, and relatively little money was made available for employer sanctions. The law remains on the books but has made only a very minor difference in the labor market. In a sense, however, it does play an episodic role at the very top of the U.S. labor market, that is where Cabinet officials are hired. Several likely potential future members of the Cabinet, both Democrats and Republicans, have come to grief for hiring illegal aliens as household servants.

Let's all move to Rep. Joe Baca's district
From the L.A. Times story "Immigration Sweeps Become an Election Issue for Rep. Baca":
Because of his activism [in support of illegal immigrant and in opposition to our laws --LW], [Rep. Joe Baca (D-San Bernardino)] has become a lightning rod of criticism from supporters of the [recent immigration sweeps 100 miles from the border] and from a Southern California Border Patrol union whose members felt the congressman vilified them for detaining the suspects, according to those from both parties watching the election closely...

Baca's stance on the sweeps has brought greater media attention and support to his Republican challenger, Ed Laning, a construction company executive who adamantly supports the Border Patrol operations...
"There is this kernel of just incredible anger about immigration," [UC Riverside political science professor Max Neiman] said. "It does have a potential for exploding."
...[Baca] also declared the sweeps illegal and accused the Border Patrol agents of overstepping their authority.
Baca and several other legislators in Washington discussed the sweeps with Asa Hutchinson, undersecretary for border and transportation security at the Department of Homeland Security. After the meeting, Hutchinson declared the sweeps a violation of agency policy and said future operations far from the border must be approved by the department.

Joanne Peters, a Baca spokeswoman, said the union members who attacked the congressman are "loose cannons" who have been reprimanded by their superiors...
Short of moving to Baca's district, perhaps we should take him up on his offer. I'm sure he won't mind if we start conducting sweeps against the employers of his "constituents."
Baca might be able to pull strings to silence those "loose cannons," but I have a feeling his attempts to squelch their First Amendment rights will backfire.

So, what it amounts to is you follow the child psychology model. First, you take away penalties and punishment.

Next, you pass laws that says an act is illegal, but you do not enforce the law, and get your enforcers to ignore the law.

Lastly, to make sure that the transgressors do not feel offended, you seek out any variation by your enforcers, and vigorously prosecute and punish them for that variation.

EXAMPLES: Ramos, Campeon, Sipe, Gary Brugman, Noe Aleman, and Sheriff's Deputy Gilmer Hernandez inside the United States, and the Haditha and Hamdaniya Marines operating in Iraq.

In both cases, the Bush Administration sought out witnesses friendly to " The Victim", and "Bought" their testimony.

When I was a young man, most work was simple and amounted to manual labor.

If you were hired, the foreman wanted to see your rear,, with elbows in fast motion. (Marines will know a different phrase).

If you were caught sitting around, or didn't show up for work on time, you were summarily dismissed--. Often then slacker, thinking his pride was attacked would challenge the foreman to a fight. Most foremen were good fighters. If not, they had loyal strong workers who could fight for them.

Hence, there was a term, "He got his ass whopped and fired off the job".

Well, citizens ( Not Illegal Immigrants), our employees have basically tried to steal from our company. They were working for John Q. Smith and Family, but tried to take the Smith's assets and hand them over to Vicente Fox's cartel.

The deal also favored the Rich Company down the road, whose heads are members of the U S Chamber of Commerce.

It is like they tried to take a brick building apart, each brick bought by the blood of a U S Citizen ancestor defending that building. and hand that brick to those who were from countries around the world, often countries who want us dead or under submission of their primitive religion.

They tried to give out the building blocks to wealthy corporations who have already sent jobs to Vietnam, Malaysia, China, and India.

To them, it is "Just Business". To them, it means a bigger donation so they can buy TV time, and lIE to us about how good of a job they will do for us if we extend their employment contract like we did for Jon Kyl. Remember, he used the sheriffs of Arizona in an ad, walking with them, and saying," I'll never vote for Amnesty". He spoke in front of Border Patrol Agents, tasked with keepingIlegals out, and declared he would never vote for"Guest Worker" or "Amnesty".

To those who tried so hard to prostitute themselves to Foreign countries, to Corporate Interests, to the unwashed, disease carrying invaders, we have given them their Personnel Review. Their effort so far gets a F grade.

The next step is to watch and see if they are working for us. If not, they deserve to have their ass whooped and fired off the job.

The Situation as I see it.

Let's go over some recent history.

The first irritation for Conservatives came when Kool-Aid drinking voters gave Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid a majority. They voted mostly for Democratic candidates who lied their asses off, and claimed"I'm Conservative".

Here in Arizona , Rep. J D Haywoth was defeated by a Socialist Democrat who accused JD of "Being soft on Illegal Immigration".

Once these Democrats were installed in Congress, their major propulsion from from groups like Code Pink, ANSWER, and Not in Our Name (NION) anti-war , pounded the Democrats to "Pull out the Troops".

Now, I will call the Main Stream Media (TV networks, newspapers, NPR) willing facilitators of Defeat. CAPTION=As long as I count the votes, what are you going to do about it? Say what?"

What they did not count on was that for every soldier in the military, there are five to ten people near that soldier's home, who know and treasure his/her life. These people stirred.

The next event was when a Vietnam Veteran found that these groups were going to hold an anti-war rally on March 17. The Anti-War people were going to form up in front of the Vietnam War Memorial, also known as "The Wall".

"The Wall" is about the only symbol of respect allowed Vietnam Veterans by the US Government or most of the US population. To the veterans, that symbol IS their lost fellow soldiers, sailors, and Marines.

Word quickly speed. Vietnam Vets, current military, their families and friends vowed that the Anti-War groups would not get the opportunity to spray " their Wall".

People drove, flew, and rode to DC. March 17 turned out to be 28 degrees.

THIRY THOUSAND people showed up for the vets and their allies. What had been advertised as a hundred thousand protesters, which actually turned out to be ten thousand, came to The Mall, but were denied any proximity to The Wall.

How much note did this draw from the MSM? CSPAN covered the War Protestors. The Washington Times sent their ace cracker-jack reporter--He talked to the Anti-War protestors and ignored the counter protest.

It seems that politicians got wind of what was coming to town. All of them fled. Bush went to Camp David on icy roads, and had a collision with an elderly couple.

The next event was some information coming out that Senators had been meeting behind closed doors, and with President Bush--again behind closed doors.

The aspects of what they were working on--a "Comprehensive Immigration Bill" were slow to be revealed to us idiots out here in Reality.

When they did come out, we found:
These are parts of the new immigration bill you have not heard about. If you think it is totally insane .......please write your representatives!"

1. Security doesn't come first in this bill. This bill would immediately legalize illegal aliens that are currently in the country. The only way Congress will actually see to it that the border security and enforcement provisions in the bill will be implemented is if they have to do them before they even consider an amnesty for the people who are here.

2. Illegal aliens won't have to pay back taxes ? where do we get the same deal?

The whole idea that illegal aliens shouldn't have to pay the taxes they already owe for working in the United States is utterly and completely offensive because it actually gives them a privilege that American citizens aren't getting: forgiveness for taxes owed to the IRS.

3. If passed, this bill will make taxpayers pay the legal bills for illegal aliens seeking amnesty.

Tucked away on page 317 is a provision that would allow lawyers in the federally-funded legal services program to represent illegal aliens, which they are presently barred from doing

.4. This bill rewards illegal aliens for breaking our laws.

There are tens of millions of people who respect our laws and our country, waiting patiently, in line, often in their home countries, to get a chance to come here. Under this bill, illegal aliens will immediately be eligible for a"Z Visa" which allows them to work, go to school, and ? this is important ?stay here for the rest of their lives if they so choose because there is no limit on the number of times it can be renewed.

5. The bill gives the government only one business day to conduct a background check to determine whether an applicant is a criminal or a terrorist.

It is impossible, of course, to determine in a single day whether someone is a terrorist or a criminal.

6. In the bill Section 601(g)(2), illegal-alien gang members would be eligible for amnesty merely by signing a "renunciation of gang affiliation."

7. Gang-bangers and other criminals, who have been ordered to leave the United States by an immigration judge but defy the ruling, are called absconders.

Section 601(d)(1)(I) permits U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to grant an absconder a Z visa anyway if he can show that being forced to leave the United States "would result in extreme hardship" to the alien, his spouse, parent or child.

8. The bill effectively shuts down our immigration-court system.

If an alien in the removal process is eligible for the Z visa, the immigration judge must close the proceedings and offer the alien the chance to apply for the amnesty.

9. If ICE officials apprehend an alien who appears eligible for the Z visa (in other words, just about any illegal alien), they can't detain him.Instead, ICE must help him apply for the Z visa.

Rather than initiating removal proceedings, ICE will be initiating amnesty applications. It's like turning the Drug Enforcement Agency into a needle-distribution network.

10. To qualify for the Z-visa amnesty, an illegal alien need only have a job (or be the parent, spouse, or child of someone with a job) and come up with a scrap of paper suggesting he was in the country before Jan. 1 of this year.

Any bank statement, pay stub, or similarly forge able record will do. * Expect a mass influx unlike anything this country has seen before, once the 12-month period for accepting Z visa applications begins. These rules are an open invitation to sneak in and present a fraudulent piece of paper indicating that you were already here.

11. As promised, the bill will legalize most of the 12 million to 20million illegal aliens now in the country via a new "Z visa." Each would pay $3,000 - only slightly more than the going rate to be smuggled into America. This is not up front.

They will have eight years to pay it back. (that works out to a payment plan of $31.25 per month)

12. Supporters of the bill call the Z visa "temporary" - neglecting to mention that *it can be renewed indefinitely *until the visa holder dies.

Thus, we have the country's first permanent temporary visa. On top of that, it's a super-visa - allowing the holder to work, attend college or do just about anything else. * Are you a law-abiding alien who's interested in switching to this privileged status? Sorry. Only illegal aliens can qualify.

13. The bill increases legal migration by at least 50 percent over the next decade* by granting green cards to all the remote relatives who are in the chain migration categories, a number estimated at 750,000 to 900,000a year.

That is triple the current number of 250,000. Giving green cards to millions of additional relatives ensures that legal immigration will continue to grow as this larger pool of permanent residents brings in spouses.

14. The bill claims that bench marks must be met before amnesty/guest-worker provisions go into effect.

But the bench marks fail to require that the U.S.-Mexico border be closed, fail to require that the border fence be completed as mandated by Congress in October and fail to require that the Department of Homeland Security implement the entry-exit visa system so Americans can know if visitors and guest workers actually leave.

The border security part of the bill calls for a 370-mile-long fence on the U.S./Mexico border. That is only half as long as the700-mile-long fence ordered by the Secure Fence Act passed overwhelmingly by Congress and ostentatiously signed by the president in front of TV cameras just before the November 2006 election.

15. Another bench mark is that "tools" will be provided to prevent illegal immigrants from getting jobs, including requirements for identification standards and an employee verification system.

But the bill lacks a requirement that anybody actually use the tools.

*16. The costs of the Senate immigration bill are mind-boggling.

Unbelievably, the Senate has made no attempt to estimate this costs or how to how to pay them. The Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector puts a potential price tag on this bill of $2.5 trillion, which is five times the cost of the Iraq war.

17. At least 60 percent of illegal immigrants lack a high school diploma, which means they will work low-wage jobs, pay little or no income tax,and be heavy users of our schools and means-tested social benefits such as Medicaid, school lunches, Women, Infants and Children Program, subsidized housing, the Earned Income Tax Credit, and free legal counsel.

18. Fiscal costs would go up dramatically after amnesty recipients reach retirement.

Each elderly low-skill immigrant imposes a net cost - that is benefits minus taxes - on U.S. taxpayers of about $17,000 per year*,according to the Heritage Foundation. These costs would hit Social Security and medicare at the very time Social Security is expected to go into crisis.

19. Illegal aliens would receive a taxpayer subsidy worth tens of thousands of dollars and would be treated better than U.S. citizens from out of state, who must pay three to four times as much to attend college. In an era of limited educational resources and rising tuition, U.S. citizens, not aliens openly violating federal law, should be first in line to receive education subsidies.

Yuma area Border Patrol agents had their hands full Monday morning with rock and firebomb throwers, including an arsonist who started a fire in a wheat field, the patrol said. No agents were injured in any of the incidents that occurred near the U.S. Port of Entry at San Luis, Ariz., the patrol said, and the city's fire department put out the fire before it could spread. The first incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. about a half-mile east of the port, when agents encountered a group of five suspected illegal immigrants, who turned around and headed back to Mexico when they saw the agents. Once across the border, they began throwing rocks at the agents, who withdrew to a safe distance and contacted Mexican authorities, according to a Border Patrol news release. Ten minutes later, an agent saw a Molotov cocktail being thrown from Mexico over the international boundary fence about a mile west of the port of entry. It landed about 30 yards from the agent’s truck and burned out. This morning, I called the Tucson office of Senator Jon Kyl, who has been pimping

" Immigration reform".

The call was answered by a pleasant staff worker named Matt. Matt was told that this "Immigration Reform" made me sick to my stomach.

Matt asked me what I found objectionable.

My chief objection, although I could have went on for four hours. was that for many entrants, they will have an exemption from background checks, which means no one checks to see if they have a Criminal History.

Matt launched into a laundry list of all the enforcement provisions, provisions for technical upgrades, and added manpower.

Matt was told: What good is it to put 5,000, 10,000, or a 100,000 new Border Patrol agents on the border if you show them that if they do their job, they will be prosecuted and sued. Matt asked how that was.

I told him, you have two Agents sitting in prison, and they did not know they had hit the man they shot at. The man they shot at was a drug smuggler, who--by his family's statement--never carried drugs unless he had a gun with him.

There are promises of all kinds of enforcement. BUT, you gauge predicted performance of past

results. The recent 7 years shows a serious lack of enforcement of EXISTING laws that call for criminal penalties.

Prove it? Carol Lam, fired federal prosecutor for Southern California, REFUSED to prosecute People Smugglers unless they had been apprehended TWELVE TIMES. Her claim to fame? She prosecuted Randy Cunnigham, who confessed--how hard is that?

Digging ditches for Farmer Jones

When I first started being a Highway Patrol Officer, I became aware of other officers that would stray "Off the Beat".

One night, we had an odd number of men (No women until four years later). The Sergeant paired up with me, as in the South Central Los Angeles Office, you paired up at sundown instead of at 2200 hours--10 PM to Civilians.

We are cruising the Firestone Area ( County of Los Angeles). We hear an officer running a plate, and he gives his location as 103rd and Central. That location was in the City of Los Angeles, where the Highway Patrol had traffic responsibilities on Freeway and County roads. The Firestone area is Unincorporated.

The Sergeant has me drive him to the Officer's location. He got out, had a conversation with the Officer, then returned.

After we drove away, he asks " What did you do growing up, I mean. like work"?

" I grew up on ranches and dairies".

"What did you do?"

" All kinds of things--ride after cattle,. milk cows, dig ditches..."

" O K... You only dug those ditches on your dairy or your ranch?"

"Yes.."

" Well, you see, it is like you were hired to dig ditches for Farmer Jones. Farmer Smith is going by, sees you, and says" Hey-how would you like to come over to my place and dig a ditch out for me?" You say,"O K..who is going to pay me?" "Smith says " Farmer Jones is already paying you.

The Sergeant continued. "You see, the State of California hired you to work thier farm, and dig their ditch. The people of the City of Los Angeles already pay taxes toward the Los Angeles Police Department. So, essntially, if you go off your beat, you are doing work for Smith when Jones hired you and is paying you."

I'm sure you are sitting there, wondering.."Where is he going?"

1. The VOTERS hire representatives to go to Congress for them. If this were a true Democracy, every voter would vote on every Bill and issue.

The NEWS left out that the hero, Liviu Librescu, had been screwed over first by the Nazis, but then told he could not work by Communists in his native Romania because he would not sign-up to be a Party member. This led to his migration to Israel.

I do not watch baseball. It's not a priority. However, one member of my family follows baseball, and wanted to watch the game.

Then, regardless if the statement is true or false, you go to the "Offending Party's "boss or sponsors. You threaten the boss with a lawsuit, or start a boycott of the sponsors. In the day of "The Bottom Line", the boss either agrees to pay a settlement (Extortion) or fire the "Offending Party" .

And, to me, the kicker is that they both use the U S Government, funded by U S citizens, and the legal system of that government to either get that settlement or the "Offender" fired.

This is the same Government that ended Segregation and gave Blacks the right to vote. Yet Blacks seem to have np problem taking away someone else's freedom of speech.

I'm the guy in the primitive stroller. That guy standing, feeding a calf, was my grandfather.

If you look closely, you will see that he has homemade prosthetic device for a left leg. In those days, if you lost a leg, there were crutches. However, if you were a worker, a survivor--they didn't make things so you could use both hands.

My grandfather MADE this attachment so he could keep working on his little farm. He didn't sit on his ass and wait for Aid from the Government, although debilitating welfare programs were around then, but only six or seven years into being.

My grandfather didn't whine and moan and expect someone to come and do his work for him.

You see, even at that young age, my grandfather taught me a lesson that the Marine Corps still teaches: Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

I always wondered if there were people out there like me. You see, I had a 16 year Boot Camp. My mother would turn over my bed or pour ice water in with me if I wasn't up at 0430 to start milking cows. If she declared that I had done something wrong, she hit me with what was handy. This went on until I was 16, and rebelled one day, and told if she ever hit me again for some BS reason, I was going to hit back.

In 1974, I transferred to San Diego with the Highway Patrol. I found the U.S.Marine Corps, and lived near some officers. What I found was that Marines have the closest set of values, ideals, and measures of accomplishment as I do.

Finding meaning in life

In the last post, I commented somewhat on passing through casinos.

Things noticed:

--Usually, there are hundreds of slot machines.

--People sitting at the machines are often elderly or have a disability as indicated by a nearby oxygen tank or sitting in a powered wheel chair.

It seems to me to a real reduction in life expectation when your recreation is sitting in front of a machine, pulling a handle, and hoping that you will get something.

A physician who had practiced near casinos pointed something out to me. Casinos insure that patrons can drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. The alcohol is to make you stupid--impair your judgement so that you bet or spend more than you should. The cigarettes keep you awake so that you can bet longer.

People think they are getting a real deal with bargain room rates and food that is priced about 1/4th the usual amount. As I pointed out to them: The casinos are not losing money. Yes, you will get your food and bed for cheaper--but they are going to make a profit. How? They are counting on you to bet your money--remember, the house wins at least 55% of the time.

People that sit at slots, or gamble I know consider it a mark of sophistication, and will boast about how much money they have won [They don't tell you how much they lost] To me, these people are ignoring big issues like world domination by Islamofascists and watching our country swirl down the toilet propelled by the illegal invasion of unskilled workers. They are like the people who want to be nice to muslims, and the most important thing in their life is who got voted off Survivor or American Idol.

In Vegas, everything that is interesting makes you go through a casino to get there.

There are classic cars, there are gardens, there are flamingos, there are gondolas, and there are name stars appearing in concert. But,you have to go through a casino to see any of these.

As to myself, I DO NOT GAMBLE.
In the early 60's, I was newly married and struggling to make ends meet. For five days a week, I was a Route Delivery/Sales/ Set-up/Merchandiser for 7-up bottling company.
On Saturday and Sunday, I worked for a while as a "Change" person on the betting line, then a ticket seller at the local horse race track.

Every weeeked, there was this fabulously wealthy guy who drove up from Phoenix in--a Cadillac--the MOST expensive car you could buy. He would bet $10,000 PER RACE.
Remember, you could buy a new car then for $1800 . My salry was $225 a month PLUS $.05 per case of sodas that I was able to sell. The top wage around town was $2. 00 PER HOUR.

One day, the guy hung around after the races. The people who worked the betting line would get a beer or soda, sit down together in the stands after the races and compare who had the most extreme bettors that day.

The guy asked if he can sit with us. Sure!

One lady said, "You must awfully wealthy--did you inherit?"

The guy," No, I am architect in Phoenix".

The lady," Wow, you must win a lot!".

The guy," No, actually I don't. A professional gambler can hope to win 45% of the time. So, you better have a good day job to support yourself"

I figured it out: Gamblers are like prospectors. With prospectors, that "Big Strike" is right over that next hill. With gamblers, it is the next hand, the next spin, the next throw that will win them that big pot.

In Vegas, I note that pawn shops are everywhere.

PHOENIX (AP) — A Maricopa County court official told staff to stop asking inmates for their immigration status despite a constitutional amendment that denies bail for illegal immigrants accused of serious crimes, according to a newspaper investigation.
Penny Stinson, a Superior Court pretrial services director, made the order Nov. 17, shortly before the amendment took effect.
“Due to recent changes in the legislation and the liberty interest implications, we will no longer be asking defendants any questions regarding their citizenship,” Stinson wrote in an e-mail obtained by the East Valley Tribune.
Stinson tagged the e-mail high importance and “EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY” and sent it to 19 staff members. The message was copied to Commissioner Sheila Madden, whose job is to set bail for defendants in their first appearances before a judge.
In a second e-mail on March 19, Stinson reminded her staff of the directive and instructed them not to record any immigration information on paperwork.
“Please remember that we do not ask defendants any questions regarding their citizenship,” Stinson wrote.
This e-mail was circulated four days after a paperwork error led to the release of an illegal immigrant who is now wanted in a fatal stabbing last week in Mesa.
Police say Ruben Perez Rivera killed his cousin Tuesday night when he found the man with his ex-girlfriend. Under the terms of the law mandated by Prop. 100, Perez should have been in jail at the time of the stabbing while awaiting trial on felony charges of kidnapping and assaulting the ex-girlfriend on March 4.

There are a few occupations (Brain surgeon, rocket scientist, dentist, and Plumber) that escape critique lately.

Given the chance to do what is right, liberals will consistently choose otherwise.
They do so because they adopt a worldview that is based on "what feels good." They follow impulses instead of moral standards. And they seem to cheer for our enemies instead of our allies. Which when you think of it seems to be a defining characteristic of someone who has lost their mind.

This week was replete with perfect examples:

Rosie O'Donnell decided this week to throw the rest of her considerable heft (rhetorically speaking) behind the mullahs, and the crazy man in Iran. In a clip that will live in Internet infamy she actually objects to calling terrorists "evil". She took the side of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards over GPS. She then launched into conspiracy theory that the United States planned an organized destruction of World Trade 7. A theory that has already long been debunked - not by politicians - but by Popular Mechanics. On the upside - if we can merely convince her "family" (composed of people entirely unrelated to her) to vote her off, she may leave “The View” in May 2007.

Al Gore dared to assault the intelligence of humanity by comparing the struggle for Civil Rights in the 1960's (which his own father sought to stall) to his own pet project - global warming. Gore's rhetoric that mankind is in control of the warming trend that is affecting seven planets in our solar system is laughable. But peddling his half-hatched theories to the genuine pain of people who endured ill-treatment only because of skin color defies seriousness.

John Travolta, not to be outdone, felt free to lecture movie goers at the British premiere of his new movie, about the perils of global warming as well. Shortly thereafter it was discovered that as he was busy adding up some 30,000 flight miles in the past year, on his personal fleet of five airplanes, his personal carbon emissions rate stood at 800 tons; more than 100 times the average person.

Congressional Liberals felt perfectly comfy spending nearly 48 billion of your tax dollars on pork, peanuts, and spinach over the past two weeks, but couldn't find time to fund our soldiers before spring break. They also seem to have no opinion whatsoever about the fact that our allies are facing a serious crisis in our shared struggle against terror. And for a bonus they then turned around and increased the taxes you pay by $400,000,000,000.

Diane Feinstein had an even tougher week because it was revealed that she and her husband were making serious dough off the war, and with her being on the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee and all...

Hillary Clinton had to resort to asking a philanderer to hit her campaign trail early, far in advance of when she had originally intended. Why? So that, in true keeping with her liberal mentality, she could stick the dagger in the heart of Barack Obama. The unintended result however may be coming back to haunt her in the not to distant future. Turns out even some liberals don’t like enduring Clinton’s best fund-raising technique. You and I commonly refer to it as a shakedown.

CNN and James Carville both thought they had pulled one over on viewers, but in doing so demonstrated that they could stab a fellow liberal in the back as easily as Hillary herself. Both CNN and Carville also know and understand the importance of proper disclosure - and chose to not do so. Carville pretended to be giving an unbiased view of the Democratic primary race (even though he is on Hillary’s payroll,) and CNN pretended not to notice.

Nancy Pelosi, following in the steps of John Kerry, Chris Dodd, and Howard Dean, is planning on going to Syria to consult with the enemy. Syria of course has been providing upwards of 80% of the suicide bombers that have killed innocent American G.I.s and Iraqi citizens in Iraq.

A vile, liberal assault on Christians was only narrowly avoided this week, when people of strong faith objected to the use of Holy Week as a time to mock Jesus Christ.

Omar Mohammadi, an ACLU attorney, decided to take up the case of the six flying Imams, and to file a lawsuit against the passengers on the airplane who the Imams originally scared in the first place.

Liberals in New York City are crying out that Ronell Wilson - who was convicted of killing two NYPD police officers this week - not receive the death penalty. Wilson was the first person to be sentenced to death in New York in fifty years. Wilson was convicted of killing the officers "execution style."

The liberal mainstream media chose to willfully misrepresent the comments of Dr. James Dobson as it pertained to Fred Thompson running for President.

And socially liberal Rudy Giuliani was for his wife being part of presidential cabinet meetings, before he was against it.

To believe this, you had to not believe that IslamoFascists had attacked us since Jimmah Cart-uh had sold out the Shah in 1979.

You had to ignore news and private video showing the second aircraft crashing into the Towers.

Apparently, Popular Mechanics Magazine had employed REAL engineers

you analyze the dynamics of the attack on the Towers. Using REAL evidence, they explained how the inferno after the collisions super-heated the steel support structure turned to a warm butter consistency, allowing the upper stories to collapse on the lower ones in a hammer effect, driving the whole Tower into the ground.

Yet, here is gargoyle O'Donnell proclaiming that Bush did it.

In November of 1978, the world was shocked by the suicide deaths of 913 members of the People's Temple cult. Jim Jones, the leader of the group, convinced his followers to move to Jonestown, Guyana, a remote community that Jones carved out of the South American jungle and named after himself. Jones constantly feared losing control of his followers. His paranoia was the main reason he moved the cult to Guyana.
The mass suicide occurred after U.S. Rep. Leo Ryan of California and a team of reporters visited the compound to investigate reports of abuse. After some members tried to leave with the congressman’s group, Jim Jones had Ryan and his entourage ambushed at the nearby airstrip. He then ordered his flock to commit suicide by drinking grape-flavored Kool-Aid laced with potassium cyanide.
The mass suicide wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. During the weeks that preceded the dreadful event, Jones had conducted a series of suicide drills, according to survivors. An alarm call would sound and every person in the camp would line up to receive a fatal dosage. These exercises in insanity proved that all of the adults at the compound knew what would be the result of their actions.
The People’s Temple did not start off as your average mind-controlling cult. It initially gained much respect as an interracial mission for the sick, homeless and jobless. Jim Jones did not manifest his darker side until near the end.
One lasting legacy of the Jonestown tragedy is the saying, “Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.” This has come to mean, "Don’t trust any group you find to be a little on the kooky side." Of course, you would have to know of Kool-Aid’s dubious connection to Jim Jones to understand the proverb.

The only thing killed in today's dialogue is the speaker's logic and reason, plus a blinding toward scientific, verifiable FACTS.

Yet, these people--and I have some relatives who fall into this category, cling to Talking Points put out by James Carville/Bob Shrum/ and Democratic Party like a 1 year-old does their "Blankie"

REASONS I WILL NOT HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEM:
A. They will speak these already disproved assertions.

B. If you try to show them the error, you are suddenly a "Racist, bigoted, Hater"

C. If you try further, they escalate to trying to shout you down, and if agitated further, watch for a physical attack.

Two charged in ambush attack on immigrants in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (Map, News) - Gunmen apparently trying to seize a smugglers' truckload of drugs attacked a pickup hauling 23 suspected illegal immigrants early Friday, killing two people and wounding another, authorities said.
Within hours, Border Patrol agents tracking footprints found two men along with three high-powered weapons near a campsite about a half-mile south of where the shooting occurred, said Richard Kastigar, Pima County sheriff's criminal investigations chief.
After questioning Friday afternoon, both men admitted to having fired high-powered weapons into the truck and were charged with two counts each of homicide and 21 counts each of attempted homicide, Kastigar said.
Witnesses inside the pickup and its camper shell substantiated the events, even though none of the survivors interviewed was able to identify the gunmen, according to Kastigar.
Rosario Humberto Araujo-Monarrez, 21, and Martin Esrain Flores-Gaxiola, 18, from the Mexican state of Sinaloa, were being processed before being booked into the Pima County Jail and other charges could be pending, Kastigar said.
The first man who admitted taking part in the shooting told detectives four men shot at the truck, according to Kastigar.

SEN. Dianne Feinstein has resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee. As previously and extensively reviewed in these pages, Feinstein was chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years, during which time she had a conflict of interest due to her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.

As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design. She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband's companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp.

Perhaps she resigned from MILCON because she could not take the heat generated by Metro's expose of her ethics (which was partially funded by the Investigative Fund of the Nation Institute). Or was her work on the subcommittee finished because Blum divested ownership of his military construction and advanced weapons manufacturing firms in late 2005?
The MILCON subcommittee is not only in charge of supervising military construction, it also oversees "quality of life" issues for veterans, which includes building housing for military families and operating hospitals and clinics for wounded soldiers. Perhaps Feinstein is trying to disassociate herself from MILCON's incredible failure to provide decent medical care for wounded soldiers.
Two years ago, before the Washington Post became belatedly involved, the online magazine Salon.com exposed the horrors of deficient medical care for Iraq war veterans. While leading MILCON, Feinstein had ample warning of the medical-care meltdown. But she was not proactive on veteran's affairs.
Feinstein abandoned MILCON as her ethical problems were surfacing in the media, and as it was becoming clear that her subcommittee left grievously wounded veterans to rot while her family was profiting from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. It turns out that Blum also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases—often without the benefit of competitive bidding—to the Department of Veterans Affairs, even as the system of medical care for veterans collapsed on his wife's watch.
As of December 2006, according to SEC filings and www.fedspending.org, three corporations in which Blum's financial entities own a total of $1 billion in stock won considerable favor from the budgets of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs:
Boston Scientific Corporation: $17.8 million for medical equipment and supplies; 85 percent of contracts awarded without benefit of competition.
Kinetic Concepts Inc.: $12 million, medical equipment and supplies; 28 percent noncompetitively awarded.
CB Richard Ellis: The Blum-controlled international real estate firm holds congressionally funded contracts to lease office space to the Department of Veterans Affairs. It also is involved in redeveloping military bases turned over to the private sector.
You would think that, considering all the money Feinstein's family has pocketed by waging global warfare while ignoring the plight of wounded American soldiers, she would show a smidgeon of shame and resign from the entire Senate, not just a subcommittee. Conversely, you'd think she might stick around MILCON to try and fix the medical-care disaster she helped to engineer for the vets who were suckered into fighting her and Bush's panoply of unjust wars.

From my own experience, I know that Welfare Workers in Los Angeles REFUSED to take action when it was shown that some of their claimants were committing fraud.. Their response was " We are here to give out benefits--not verify eligibility".

Lauren Maggi Guilty in "Spit On Soldier" Case
(Syracuse, New York) Last November, 35-year-old Lauren Maggi was charged with harassment for spitting in a soldier's face at Hancock Airport. Reportedly, out of the clear blue, Maggi walked up to 21-year-old Jason Jones, a Ft. Drum soldier, and spit at him without provocation.
Yesterday, Maggi pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment and explained her actions.
Lauren Maggi had been verbally abused on the phone by a male acquaintance who is in the military at Fort Drum, and she "displaced her anger" when she encountered the victim as she walked through the airport, defense lawyer Louis Mannara said.
"I was crushed that people saw this as an anti-uniform, anti-war gesture," Maggi said. Maggi said she is a registered Republican who twice voted for President George W. Bush and supports the administration's war effort and the soldiers who are carrying out that mission.Her punishment for the offense wasn't reported.

The General who wanted to silence Yon in 2005 was Brigadier General Vincent K. Brooks, then the lead Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for the United States Army. The stories that got Yon in trouble with Brooks: Proximity Delays and Gates of Fire. Proximity Delays got Yon in trouble, and in Gates of Fire, Yon picked up a rifle and joined combat to help LTC Erik Kurilla, who had been shot three times by an insurgent while CSM Robert Prosser was engaged in hand-to-hand combat with another insurgent. For inserting himself into battle (which violated embed rules) to help fallen American soldiers, and then having the gall to write about it, Brooks tried to kick Yon our of Iraq.

Brooks is back in Iraq, this time as deputy commanding general - support for Multinational Division-Baghdad, and he still obviously carries his grudge against Yon. I confirmed last night with Michael Yon that it is this same General Vincent K. Brooks that sent Yon the email threatening to kick him out of Iraq.

I don’t think I need to tell you how important Yon’s reporting is. He has been favorably compared to WWII’s premier combat correspondent Ernie Pyle, in part because Yon, like Pyle, is brutally honest in his reporting. When he sees problems he reports them, and when he sees progress, he reports that as well. Yon has, if I am correct, spent more time embedded in U.S. combat units in Iraq than any journalist for any news organization. Period. He plans to spend the next year on the ground with our soldiers in Iraq. He braves bullets and IEDs with our troops out on patrol, and was once targeted to be kidnapped and killed by insurgents because of his reporting. Through it all, Yon has pushed on, and now a General on our side appears to be trying to silence him. ...

General Vincent K Brooks is a West Point, Ring-knocking, ass-kissing, Climber.

What's a climber?

In the Military and Law Enforcement, they are the ones who:
A. Enforce policy rigorously.

B. Never question policy or try to change it. Either one is challenging superiors--which will get you a bad review, and STOP your climb up the ladder.

C. Penalize even slight violations because if you let them pass, someone somewhere down the road MIGHT make an issue out of it, you will be embarrassed, and your climb up the ladder will be stopped.

Here we have a military-trained man, who knows weapons and tactics--who is now a "reporter", and who--with the unit he is accompanying--comes under fire. SO- he does what a soldier would do--picks up a weapon and defends himself and the unit.

If you have had the misfortune of going through a construction area, you know the frustration of being halted and squeezed down to one or two lanes. You find that you are being held up by some guy who looks like has has an IQ of room temperature.
That lower mental capacity person who basically stands there and turns his sign from "SLOW" to "STOP" is making $40 an hour.

You see, any Government Road Project has been subordinated to--UNIONS.

You have to use higher-priced UNION labor since Democrats: A. Have Union thugs as supporters, and B. put into law the requirement that firms using Union labor be contracted.

You will notice that these projects seem to take forever. One simple transition ramp in California--some grading, some paving, and some guard rail--took TWO YEARS.

A few comparisons:
Recently, I rode a scenic rail tour. The tour is 34 miles long. There is a 500 foot tunnel. The rail line is rock, cut into the side of the Verde River Canyon. The entire project took--ONE YEAR--in 1911!

The Pentagon was built--completed--in 18 months--in 1943!

Now, the kicker.

The same Democrats--who would have you follow EVERY design requirement, and stretch out the work in order to keep Union members employed DEMAND that the effort in Iraq be abandoned. Pity poor Peter Pace. When asked point blank by the Chicago Tribune if he thought that homosexual behavior was immoral, he had the temerity, the audacity, the impertinence, the gall and the bad judgment to respond — get this — in the affirmative. Predictably, he set off shock waves among the politically correct. Can you imagine someone of his level of experience –– you don’t get to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff overnight or by making off-the-cuff remarks –– painting himself into such a corner? What was he thinking, poor fellow? Surely he knows better than to give his personal opinions when asked for his personal beliefs on a matter.

I see this controversy as several things:

1. It is not about Gays. It is about making Gays a "Proteced Minority", you have to let them enlist, then you are not able to take any action against them when they have one of their affairs and it destroys morale and Unit cohesion.

2. The Liberal PC police and the media have you in a loose-lose position.
a. IF you truthfully answer, you are a bigot, and like this case, they will demand that you be fired for holding and speaking an authority.
b. If you avoid the question, like politicians and diplomats do, you are "Hiding something". The Liberals have no problem with invading your privacy and your life tofind your REAL opinion.

3. If General Pace had said anything else, his Marines would have known it was an inconsistency and distrusted him in the future. A real question would be " Is he going to back us up?"

4. As I have said over and over, Liberals have two hallmarks: Fantasy and Hypocrisy. In their Anti-War March in DC on Saturday, included were Palestinian and Islamic Terror factions on the Anti-War side. Libs love Islamics.

If you read a previous post " A Rally in Phoenix", you see that Fox News showed up, interviewed one man and hauled ass before Deborah Johns arrived.

To them, this was a Non-event.

The Washington Times has a short blurb--no photos--and mainly talks about how the Anti-War fanatics declared that the Gathering of Eagles was not necessary, they would NEVER deface a war memorial.

This was billed as the event that would convince the American People--theTipping Point--that we should just quit and haul ass out of Iraq--and let the Nuke -coveting Iran take over. ANSWER would have half a million people there to convince us.

THIRTY THOUSAND people paid their own hard-earned money to go to DC. They showed up at 0700 hours, in 29 degree weather, and stayed there until the Anti-War Kooks "Marched" to the Pentagon at 1300 hours, when it was still 29 degrees.

Who reported on this? Go ahead, GOOGLE it it. Put DC PROTEST in the space, then once "results" come up, click on "News".

There are hundreds of articles that talk about the "protestors" with their "Convictions" that the War must end, and how the bravely spoke up and protested.

You will find only a passing mention that there were a few "PRO-WAR" counter-protestors there.

There were NO live feeds of the activity on the Mall. Aphabet networks were not there. Major newspapers--not there. CSPAN had refused to cover the Gathering of Eagles, and replied that they would cover " The Demonstrators". FOX NEWS had some infobabe out there who showed you half-second glimpses of the crowd, and who declared there were an equal amount of Protestors and Memorial Protectors. DRUDGE had nothing.

As an Officer, I attended all of the accident reconstruction courses the California Highway Patrol had to offer.

The main instructor was the man who had started the CHP's Major Accident Investigation Team --MAIT--Sgt. Bill Shelton.

The courses were each two weeks long, and no one was guaranteed to pass.

In fact, out of 50, at least five were expected to fail.

In side conversations, Sgt. Shelton told jokes--that you could not tell now due to race and sex sensitivity. He also warned the class about talking to those "Who had gone over to the dark side".

What is that?

Anyone who:

Subordinates themselves to some trial attorney to "Tweak" :

accident photos ( This had been done, and Sgt. Shelton had examples),

computations as to directions and speeds of vehicles at collisions (Also, he had examples--which ignored math and physics) ,

and mechanical examinations. (One "Expert" had testified that an attorney's brakes seized--because they were anti-lock brakes, and the attorney got a not guilty verdict as he was being tried for manslaughter--killed his wife when he hit a tree, with his blood alcohol at around .15 [.08 is the legal limit])

Willingly tries to pry information from Officers on the job to either get a lawyer's client found not guily, or to extract a larger settlement in a civil case.

As to Ms. Drysdale's qualifications: I suspect most of her career was in a CHP Office. 750 DUI arrests? In 1979, I --working 9 months on the 2200-0630 shift, and 3 months on the 1400-2230 shift--arrested 320 DUI drivers. In my 30 years, the number was over 5,000.

These "Experts" on " The Dark Side" earn an unenviable title:

Narrow escape by a pair of Sacramento County deputies is a chilling reminder of danger.

Stopped on the shoulder of Highway 50 in the early morning darkness, Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies Aaron Marino and Zachary Hatch were sitting ducks for the drunken driver careening their way.
Marino, walking along the shoulder, saw the van approaching and yelled at his partner to get out of his parked patrol car. And then he watched helplessly as the pair of headlights -- swerving erratically and rapidly -- crashed into the car where Hatch had just been sitting.
As the van sped off, Marino looked back at the cruiser. Hatch was nowhere to be seen. His friend's heart sank.
"I thought he was dead," remembers Marino. When he saw Hatch's body several yards away -- moving -- "I was just thanking God for it."
Hatch, who remembers exiting his cruiser right before the collision, survived the February 2006 accident with a broken leg. Marino dragged him from the middle of the highway, where his body had been thrown into the path of oncoming traffic.
Their story is an uplifting one of sacrifice and survival -- but also one of danger and reality. It provides a chilling reminder of one risk law enforcement officers face on a daily basis.
Traffic stops are a routine part of police work. But they are rarely predictable and almost always risky.
"You have to have eyes in the back of your head," said Officer Steve Merchant of the California Highway Patrol. "In this job, you're routinely told over and over and over again: 'Watch out for traffic. It'll kill you.' "
During the last 10 years, 146 law enforcement officers nationwide have died after being struck by a vehicle while outside their own vehicle, according to the Washington, D.C.-based National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Those cases made up 9 percent of all officer fatalities in that period.

You have a real recipe for an officer death.

In 2002, I was walking bak to my car at a gas station. I was coming from the cahier's booth, and looking to my right--the way cars came. I was backed over by a woman that had decided to back next to a pump --from my left--while engaged in conversation with three other women passengers.

I was able to get up, but could not hardly walk ( I later had surgery on my left -Good-knee).

I hardly said anything, but when I did, it was evident that I was not pleased.

One passenger said," You don't have to be hard on her--why are you so mad anyway?"

My response: " I'm tired of people driving around with their head up their ass."

RUSH: On the Rudy Giuliani thing, let me get this out of the way before we go to the break. It's in the New York Sun today.

I told you people last week when we were discussing the Scooter Libby verdict and the controversy of whether or not there should be a pardon, and if so, when? Should it be immediate? Should it be after the November '08 elections? I hope somebody asks Rudy about this because these US attorneys are a fraternity; they hang together. And, of course, the reason this is important, the reason this is interesting to me is that the Libby verdict and the accompanying scenario of destruction that was brought about by the Drive-By Media on Libby has galvanized the Republican base. The Republican base is fit to be tied over this.

It's one of these things that, unknown to the Democrats, is going to keep festering in the minds of the base. Giuliani is a presidential contender, of course, and he's leading in all of the polls. So the New York Sun today says in a story by Russell Berman "Rudy" Giuliani is “cool to the idea of an immediate presidential pardon for I. Lewis Libby Jr., a position that puts him out of step with some conservatives who say President Bush should not wait to grant the convicted former White House aide a legal reprieve.

‘The pardon power is a very, very important power that the president has, and it has to be exercised very judiciously and very carefully,’ Mr. Giuliani told reporters in Washington yesterday. ‘You certainly shouldn't speculate about it while a criminal case is still ongoing.’ He added: ‘It seems to me you let it go through the process.’”

This is not on the conviction. He wasn't asked to comment on whether or not he thought the trial was okay and the prosecution was handled responsibly. This is simply on the pardon, but it shouldn't be any surprise. Fraternities are fraternities, and the US attorney club is not that large a club and they do hang together.

It always made me wonder how courtroom denizens--attorneys and judges--who put on a facade of adversity in the courtroom, then all went for cocktails afterwards with plenty of back-slapping, joking, and frivolity.

This phenomena is not confined to the legal community.

It was a mystery to me how superiors could screw over an officer (In my case, the Highway Patrol) by writing them up, maybe giving them a day off without pay, then having that same superior expect to keep on socializing with the officer he/she just crapped on?

If the officer did not play along, and have shallow social contacts with the superior, the officer got labels like: Immature, childish, resentful, incorrigible.

Back to the Legal Eagles: I have to agree with Rush. It is a fraternity where members cover for each other to outside interests.

Eli Whitney, and Slavery

On this day in …* 1794, Eli Whitney received a patent for his cotton gin, an invention that revolutionized America's cotton industry.

This note on the calendar started my thoughts rolling.

Where was cotton grown?

In the South.

What was the process?
Slaves would: Till the ground, plant the seeds, chop weeds out, and at maturity, pick the cotton, take it to collection points, where slaves pulled the cotton off the seeds, and pack the cotton into bales and sent it off to textile mills.

Who profited?
Slave and plantation owners.

Fast Forward to 2007.

Agriculture interests, now a BIG BUSINESS, not a family farm anymore, but as organized as GM, DuPont, or Texaco. THESE are the ones who benefit from "Cheap Labor".

What is "Cheap Labor"?

Illegal Aliens who are smuggled in by criminals.

Now, the biggest cry and whine comes from agriculture saying that enforcement of Immigration law would ruin them financially and cause depression in farming. Yet, the Agriculture interests pay their "Cheap Labor" about $10 per hour, where the average american worker needs anout $40 per hour just to pay costs of living for him/her and their family.

So, who makes up the $30 difference? YOU DO-YOU, the taxpayer.

YOU pay for Illegal Alien Health Care, Incarceration, Education for their children, and Welfare Benefits: ADC, Food Stamps, and other "Public Assistance".

Free Range vs. Domesticated

I have horses--two of them.

Last night, I began thinking about the difference from my horses, and those who run "Free Range", that is, they can go where they want, when they want.

My horses have a barn, a large corral, and a "pasture" about 50 yards wide and 100 yards long. You would call them "Domesticated" horses.

Some poor horses don't ever get to run or stretch their legs. They stand for days in 12X 12 stalls.

While the owner may love them, the owner usually is limited by funds on how much space the horse gets, and the quality of their feed.

Domesticated horses must depend on a human to feed them, clean their stalls, and turn them out for exercise.

Free Range horses must depend on themselves. They have to find forage and water. But they can run when they want to and go eat whenever.

My point is this: Humans have comparable arrangements.

There are those limited to "Rabbit-Hutch" apartments, and who have to endure the noise of other people's living. Often, they depend on some Government Assitance check twice a month.

Others live away from other humans in various sized dwellings. Usually it is too far to go to a cafe or restaraunt, and this person must prepare his/her own meals.

Personally, I want to b e "Free Range". I want to get my own foodand come and go what I want to.

IF the American people are STUPID ENOUGH to vote Hillary Clinton--or any other Socialist Pig in, staying alive will depend on the State. You WILL BE DOMESTICATED.

But then, there are a lot of people who live on Government Assistance. All you have to do is give up your freedom and your dignity.

A Rally in Phoenix

Yesterday Morning, I got up at 0430, got my emails taken care of, out to the horses at 0630, got a 30 minute run in at 0730, and off to Phoenix at 0910.

Got to the Site ( a park beside the VA) at 1315. Scheduled time for Rally was 1500-1600. It was a nice day in Phoenix, about 88 warm, but tolerable.

At first, there were only two or three vehicles, with people coming to this. How did I know--a giant banner of a flag, with signatures on it.I signed it too.

We moved to a shaded shelter, as one person who came in said they had asked a Park Ranger, and was told that was where the rally was supposed to take place.

20-30 Harley riders appeared, all with Viet Vet vests.
These guys here--again, from Free Republic:

We waited --and waited.

And guys, don't think there were just old guys who had been to Vietnam, or had a son or daughter in Iraq. Some babes,with kids,who would have put Angelina Jolie in the shade, were there. My belief is they have spouses serving.

FOX NEWS was the ONLY News Agency that covered this.

NO ONE TRIED TO LEAVE, although the first sign of the caravan was at 1445. At that time, Deborah Johns is a gray Chev. Tahoe appeared, followed by two vans. One of the crusty old Viet Vets yelled" You are late". Johns looked at her watch and said--" No, I'm not. We are 15 minutes early". The Crusty one said, "It is a quarter to three --you were supposed to be here at two".
Johns looked stunned--then said" Oh, Ma God--I'm on California Time."

Johns had another mother with her who had lost a son, and two men that had lost sons.

Debbie Johns PISSES NAPLAM. She said she is a single mother, but I sure as hell can't see why: She is attractive, smart, and she has GUTS!

To the American People
The following message is from Marine Mom, Deborah Johns. Her son, SGT William Johns of the U.S. Marines, is currently serving his 3rd tour of duty in Iraq.

I am sick and tired. Sick and tired of how some in this country are turning their backs on our troops at a time when they need our support the most!

This is why I am taking action to speak up, and in particular, why I am helping to lead the “THESE COLORS DON’T RUN” national pro-troop/patriotic caravan being organized by Move America Forward.

This is my letter to you, the American people.
Semper Fidelis: These are not just mere words, they have a meaning greater than their literal definition in a dictionary. They mean “Always Faithful.”
Not only is this the motto of the United States Marines, but also of their families, and it has spilled over into the hearts and souls of all those who serve in every branch of our military and their families as well.
Always Faithful to God. Always Faithful to your brother (or sister) who serves along side you. Always Faithful to your Country… Always Faithful to your Family… Always Faithful to your Commander in Chief.
People ask me every day, “how do you get through the days with a son serving in Iraq?”
Well, the answer is an obvious one. Always Faithful to God, Always Faithful to the heroic men and women of the U.S. military who serve along side my son. Always Faithful to the Commander in Chief, Always Faithful to my Country.
However, it does not seem that our political leaders and media representatives have remained Always Faithful
I have traveled across this country and I have listened to the American people. I have heard the support that is expressed for our military and I know that the American people do support the war on terror. They just want communication. They just want to know what the goals and objectives are.
I understand that the American people wanted change in leadership in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. I understand the American people want things to go better in Iraq so our troops can come home. However, none of this can be accomplished because of the partisan politics that are taking place, which is ultimately hurting our military. You can’t imagine how much it sickens me to see our troops used as little more than pawns in a chess game where some politicians care more about putting our President in “checkmate” than they do in winning the war our sons and daughters are bravely fighting.

I am tired of those defeat & retreat politicians who say they are patriotic, and then insult the Commander in Chief at a time when we have boots on the ground in war zones.

I am tired of the politicians who want us to wave the white flag of surrender, but who then tell me how much they “support our troops.” As a military mom I can tell you that no soldier, Marine, sailor, airmen or Guardsmen wants to risk his or her life in a military mission, only to have political leaders denouncing the validity and morality of the missions that these troops are serving in. That is NOT supporting our troops.
Can you imagine being over in Iraq or Afghanistan, facing Islamic terrorists hell-bent on killing you, and returning to your base to hear that the best plan to win this war is with a “phased redeployment” (liberal-speak for retreat) out of the combat zone to someplace like Okinawa?

I am tired of the anti-war politicians whining for months on T.V., in the New York Times, and in the House and Senate that we need more troops to win the war in Iraq, and then when the President plans to do just that, they say that this is the wrong plan, it won’t work, and we need a “new direction.” Yet they don’t offer any new direction or a better plan.

I am tired of the decisions of Sergeants and Privates made in the heat of battle being scrutinized by lawyers and political commentators who were not there. Those who snub their nose at the military, and who look down at the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, will never really know the state of mind of the young Marines or soldiers who were there and what is asked of them in order to survive.

I am tired of certain media outlets like CNN claiming that they are showing “news,” with anti-American propaganda videotapes sent to them by terrorists that show Marines and Soldiers being shot at by snipers—but then refusing to show what happens when our military builds a new school, paves a road, hands out food and water to children, opens a water treatment plant, provides much needed medical supplies to children in an orphanage.

I am tired of the politicians who act as Monday morning armchair generals, second-guessing the war effort and our military men and women. If you cannot stand behind our military and support them, go stand in front of them. Far better you stand in front of them than their parents, because they have to follow the Rules of Engagement and we don’t!

I am tired of the thousands of people in the rear who claim that they are working hard to support the troops and their way of supporting them is to bring them home. When was the last time any of you who made this statement went out to the airport to greet our troops during their redeployments back home? When was the last time any of you who say you “oppose the war, but support the troops” ever helped out a grieving widow or mother? When was the last time any of you provided help at the facilities for the wounded? When was the last time any of you sent Christmas Cards, or a care package to our troops?
I am tired of politicians who are running for office suddenly showing up at the opening of rehab facilities for our wounded for their photo opportunities as if they had really been supporting our troops all along.

I am tired of Code Pink, Daily Kos, Al-Jazzera, CNN, Reuters, the Associated Press, ABC, NBC, CBS, the ACLU, and CAIR thinking that they somehow get to have a vote in how our troops on the ground blast, shoot and kill these terrorist who have no regard for human life and who would seek to subdue and destroy us every chance they get.

I am sick and tired of people like Cindy Sheehan who not only go around the United States bashing our military, our President, but goes around the world and hugs thugs like Hugo Chavez, as if he has been her best friend her entire life. Cindy Sheehan: “You Don’t Speak for Me” and it’s time for you to zip your lip, go back home to your family and stop playing the role as this generation’s “Tokyo Rose.”

I am sick and tired of the politicians and their whining about this war, because it is this constant whining that is emboldening the terrorists to continue to kill and injure our troops and kill innocent civilians in Iraq. Can’t you give up even for a little while, your pathetic desire to get time in front of the TV cameras by doing the politically correct thing of denouncing the war effort? Could you please shelve your personal and political ambition, take your unhelpful bickering behind close doors and put your self-glorification aside for the good of our troops and this nation?

I am tired of people like Meredith Vieria from NBC asking oxygen thieves like Senator Chuck Hagel questions like “Senator, at this point, do you think we are fighting and dying for nothing?” Meredith might not get it, but Marines and soldiers do know the difference between fighting and dying for something and fighting and dying for nothing.

I am tired of journalists like William Arkin who say: “So, we pay the soldiers a decent wage, take care of their families, provide them with housing and medical care and vast social support systems and ship obscene amenities into the war zone for them, we support them in every possible way, and their attitude is that we should in addition roll over and play dead, defer to the military and the generals and let them fight their war, and give up our rights and responsibilities to speak up because they are above society?” Please tell me what a decent wage looks like for them Mr. Arkin? You need to meet Cindy Sheehan at the closest airport and fly back home with her and stop insulting the men and women of our military. I am tired of people whining about how costly this war is when they hear of a casualty. You have no idea what we as families go through when we hear 12 Marines killed; 8 Soldiers killed. You cannot even imagine the pain and difficulty we experience with the instantaneous news in our face on a daily basis. We grieve for the loss of a hero, we grieve for their families and we feel tremendous guilt when we feel relieved that it was not us who received that knock at the door.

But we stand in solidarity with our troops overseas. We become even more committed to rallying support for them and their missions. So, could you please stop trying to undo that by voicing opposition to what our troops are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan? If you are so upset with the news of U.S. casualties in these areas, then do what you can to help our troops achieve VICTORY and SUCCESS so they can come home as soon as their missions are completed.
I am tired of Rules of Engagement being made by JAG lawyers and not Combat Commanders; and politicians who have never served in the military second-guessing everything after the fact. Our military is not playing Hopscotch over there. There is no 2nd place trophy either. I think that if the enemy knew some rough treatment was at hand for them, instead of prayer rugs, special diets and free Korans; this might help send a message to the terrorists that this nation means business.

I am tired of hearing people say to me I am glad it is your son and not mine. Well you know what me too, because I would not want your coward of a son serving next to mine because it might be him and his lack of back bone that would cost my son his life. So you just let your kid go to an anti-war rally on a college campus, or attend the next MoveOn.org organizational meeting and be a wimp, while mine defends this great nation with Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

I am tired of hearing that my son has to stand down when being shot at by terrorists from inside of a Mosque, or terrorists inside a home with women and children when they are used as human shields—like the first battle in Fallujah.

No, that’s not the key to victory… instead let us turn loose our troops to do what they must to defeat, kill and annihilate enemy combatants so that this war can be over and our military men and women can finally come home.

We are in Iraq and Afghanistan to kill our enemies. It is that simple. It is only possible to defeat an enemy who kills indiscriminately by utterly destroying him. He cannot be made to yield or surrender or sit down and talk nicely about the situation. This is not Barney “I Love You, You Love Me and we are one big happy family.” These terrorists will fight to the death by the thousands to kill the infidels who do not believe in their way of life and that means you and me and our Marines and Soldiers serving in Iraq.

As the President asked in his recent speech to the Nation: Please all of you put down your own selfish agendas. Take a good long look at what you are doing. Because I am telling you your actions, the mud slinging you all have going on against one another is hurting and hindering our military men and women and their families.

All of you politicians had access to the same intelligence the President had when you voted for this war. You all had a similar view of Saddam Hussein, and you all knew that Iraq was a state sponsor of Islamic terrorist groups. The fact is that we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, and our troops need our support to get the job done so they can come home, and all of you politicians need to stop acting like a bunch of whining 2 year-olds who are not getting your way. I am telling you if you cut the funding to our military and do not provide them with the manpower and equipment they need to get this job done, you are no better than the terrorists who shot at them and try to kill them.

I know the American People want change in Iraq, our military wants change and so do their families. The change we want is for everyone to stop undermining the war effort and support our troops so that they may achieve a complete military victory in Iraq and Afghanistan alike.
Please, as a Mother of a Marine serving his third tour of duty, on his behalf, on the behalf of his brothers serving along side him, our troops, and their families, lay down your anger towards one another and do what is right and in the best interests of our Military.
God Bless them until they come home, God Bless those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, God Bless their families who are Always Faithful and God Bless this Country.

Surviving the stress from within your police organization

Stress can beat you down. Prolonged stress can manifest itself in serious health issues including heart disease and cancer, and yet the trend in law enforcement is not to protect officers from stress, but indeed create more.
Listen to these comments from an officer, then new to police work,
"This is the only job where guys do things together, really try to do good things together. I really like that; it means something. People talk about this male bonding, but there is something to it. It makes me feel differently when I go to work that I know who I'm working with and we are out there to be the good guys."
And then, the same officer five years later,
"I used to have goals, and I achieved them and they were meaningless. It was all I thought it would be. Now I go fast, come back fast.. Now I just keep my nose clean, do as little as I can, don't get involved, clear, and wait for the end of watch. I need to get retired."--Joan Barker; Danger, Duty and Disillusion: The Worldview of Los Angeles Police Officers; Waveland Press; 1999)
Recently, several younger officers were talking about job stress. Not the stress of some call or dealing with violent suspects, but rather the stress of dealing with "the inside game."

What, you ask is the inside game?

It is the number one stressor in police work today...that stress which emanates from within your police organization and is endemic within law enforcement. The inside game, in my opinion, results in more anguish than pretty much all other stress. It is responsible for more high blood pressure problems, heart attacks, ulcers and various other maladies and illnesses, as well as good officers leaving agencies or police work altogether than any number of high risk calls.

Think I'm wrong? Ask any police officer what stresses him or her out more, the street, or the political machinations of the agency?
Why?
Why, and when did it change?

Most officers that I've spoken with feel things started changing around ten years ago.

Prior to that, the job always had its share of stress, but it seemed at least to be fun. Cops tended to look out for each other and supervisors looked out for them. Screw up and you expected a little or large bite out of your derriere, but if you worked hard and took care of business, you were usually left alone. But hardworking officers are intrinsically motivated today, meaning that they work hard because that is the kind of person they are and they refuse to compromise. Few extrinsic motivations exist in police work.

Hard work leads to the possibility of making a mistake, and when avoidance of mistakes is more important to supervisors looking for the next promotion rather than results, energetic officers can feel more than a little beaten up.

Discipline, or lack of discipline being equitably enforced, continues to add stress and reduce morale. For instance, the "shotgun effect" has been prevalent throughout my law enforcement career (all 24+ years) which basically states that all will suffer for the one or few. Seldom will a precise shot be directed at the culprit who was late to work; looks like a bag of rags in his uniform; didn't shine his shoes; ad infinitum. Sadly in law enforcement, as in all business today, we will all pay be made to pay with inspections, checklists, loss of privileges, etc. Furthermore, when the troops see that supervisors are not held to the same standards, resentment results and resentment leads to stress.

A number of years ago, the management of police agencies changed. In the past a chief rose up through the ranks and was promoted to the position. Then, most local and county governments wanted more control over the police, and chiefs began working on contracts under which they served at the whim of politicians. If a chief bucked the system, they soon found themselves out of work. It seemed that the result was the politicization of police management. As retired Deputy Chief Randy Murphy states, "The higher you go up in an organization, the more you are rewarded for loyalty versus competency."

A lot of supervisors in LE have forgotten that the number one rule of leadership is to take care of the troops.

More intent on taking care of themselves and ensuring their advancement through the ranks, they toe the party line and will not speak out for fear of reprisal and resultant deleterious effects on their chances for advancement.

Hear my words, "if a supervisor shows a cop that they don't care, all respect will be lost."

My favorite supervisors to work for were hard on me, expected a lot from me, but generally cared about and took care of me. Their commitment to me and other cops resulted in the feeling that we would produce and try our hardest to never betray their trust.

Other factors, such as lack of communication within an organization;

public disdain for law enforcement,

society's moral decline,

prevalence of lawsuits,

all add to officer's stress as well.

The result is oftentimes an officer "hitting the wall," as Joan Barker comments in her book. This phase of a police officer's career can occur around the seven year mark. The problem with hitting the wall is that the wall doesn't fall, and you end up with a splitting headache, or worse. How then, when stressed by the inside game, can you get over or around the wall?

How to Go Over, Under or Around the Inside Game Wall
Survival authority Dave Smith refers to "the machine." You see, a police agency is not a living thing. According to Smith, you can love the department, but it is an inanimate thing and does not have the capacity to love you back. Police departments are not fuzzy doggies that will meet you at the front door as you arrive home, wagging their tails with unconditional love. They can be cold, heartless and unfeeling and can frequently leave younger officers feeling betrayed. In order to succeed, you must accept this truth and live a well balanced life without placing too much emphasis on police work. You can love people, but your love for the "machine" will not be returned.
The stress of the inside game can be dealt with just like all other types of stress, with hard work and diligence. Exercise, proper nutrition, engaging in activities outside of law enforcement and with people from outside of LE, and finding useful and healthy ways to "shake hands with it." Because, indeed getting around the stress has a lot to do with accepting it and working through it, or finding an alternate way of overcoming job stress. Talking to professionals, whether clergy (police chaplains are great for this, I value my friendship with mine, the Reverend Bob Denton) or counselors that specialize in law enforcement and have confidentiality, is important in a job like police work, where stress can be taken home and taken out on family or result in alcohol-related issues.
Alternate strategies like promotion to fix some of the perceived problems, or simply "powering through," as Barker says, remind you that life is not a sprint, but indeed a marathon, and as Friedrich Nietzche said, "What does not destroy me, makes me stronger."
I'll leave you with the thoughts of a veteran LAPD officer, as recounted in Barker's book,
"If you want success, then you have to work without any expectation of reward. You have to do it just because it needs doing. You do it the best way you can, with no negativity. It took a year or two to change my life around. I did it out of desperation. It's a totally different mental attitude."

I implore you, my brothers and sisters in blue, to not let the inside game beat you up or wear you down. We need you and law enforcement needs you, and with a proper plan to deal with the inside game, you can lead a rewarding career in the noblest of professions

Distraught over a relationship gone sour, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Stacey French stopped at a market along the Mendocino coast and bought a cooked chicken and a bottle of gin.
She drove to an unoccupied house about four miles away, broke a window near the back door and went in. French, who so identified with the CHP that she had its badge tattooed on her left shoulder, drank some gin and tonics.
She walked up the stairs to a bedroom, sat in a closet and shot herself in the temple.
French's death in November 2005, described in a Mendocino County coroner's report, is part of a spate of suicides among CHP officers that has left the department shaken and searching for ways to stop it.
Fifteen CHP workers have taken their lives since September 2003, a rate far higher than the average for other police agencies or the population as a whole.
"I'm taken aback," said Robert Douglas, executive director of the National Police Suicide Foundation, which promotes suicide prevention and training in law enforcement agencies. "I haven't seen a cluster like that."
The CHP has found no common thread among the suicides, Commissioner Mike Brown said. Some officers were dealing with problems at home, others facing discipline at work.
"In some cases, we don't know why they chose that option," Brown said, "and this is troubling not only for us, but for their families or friends as well."
The fatalities include 13 men and two women. They occurred from the North Coast to the Inland Empire, including five in Sacramento. The most recent, last month, involved an officer, Ken Diehl, whose body was found in his Folsom home after he didn't report to duty or answer his phone.
Like 10 other CHP employees, Diehl used a gun. The grim tally also includes two overdoses, one hanging and one asphyxiation.
The department's upper management started addressing the problem last summer, and appointed a chief to talk to mental health providers and other agencies about what to do.
The CHP has distributed a video to field offices of Commissioner Brown talking about the problem. In two of its eight divisions so far, it has trained supervisors, managers and union representatives to recognize the signs that an employee may be contemplating suicide, as well as risk factors, such as marital problems or pending disciplinary action.
A clinical psychologist oversaw similar training of 123 "peer counselors" -- CHP workers who themselves have been through traumatic incidents -- so that they can take the message to CHP offices throughout the state.
"We're training all the folks, whether they wear a badge or not -- supervisors, managers and co-workers -- because we all have to be vigilant," Brown said.
Experts for years have debated the causes of police suicides, and even whether the rate is indeed higher than that of the population as a whole.
One study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry by Cornell University researchers found that the suicide rate among New York City police officers over two decades was slightly lower than for New York City residents.
But other studies have found higher rates among police. And even the Cornell researchers wrote that a rate close to the general population's could indicate a problem, because police go through rigorous psychological screening that would be expected to weed out those prone to suicide.
By any measure, the CHP's suicide rate is unusual. Over the past three years, it's been at least four times the national average. Since 2005, it's spiked to 7 1/2 times that number.
Experts cite many causes for police suicides, mostly related to the pressures of the job and the ready availability of the most common means: a gun.
"We ask our people to work very odd and unusual shifts," Brown said. "We ask them to do very odd and unusual tasks. They see things in their careers that most people in the general public will never see."
Other experts cite a culture that discourages showing vulnerability.
"We're supposed to solve problems, not have problems," said Rick Mattos, president of the California Association of Highway Patrolmen, the officers' labor organization. The association has put together its own committee to address the issue.
Most suicidal officers are experiencing family or relationship problems, often brought on by the officers' inability to talk to loved ones about what they go through on the job, said Douglas, of the police suicide group.
"It usually ends up that the family is the foundation that gives way," he said.
Douglas recalls getting anguished calls from an Arizona officer whose wife and children had left him. Every time he went to sleep, the officer would dream of putting a gun into his mouth. Just before he pulled the trigger, he would wake up screaming.
"Will this ever stop?" he asked Douglas.
Similar questions plagued French, the CHP sergeant who killed herself in the Mendocino County house. In a suicide note addressed to "Babe," she wrote, "Take care of my family. I adore them, but I can't deal with this," according to the coroner's report.
Five days before, after an earlier suicide attempt, she had written a "contract" with her psychologist, promising to leave her weapons with a CHP colleague, attend two Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in the next week, and ask her stepmother to spend a week with her.
"I am on call 24-7," the psychologist wrote. "We will get you through this."
French was supposed to meet a colleague in Santa Rosa on the day before her death but skipped it after she found out the CHP had issued a "be on the lookout" alert for her, the coroner's report says.
Instead, she headed to the Mendocino coast, an area she knew well from her experience, prior to becoming a CHP officer, working at Russian Gulch State Park.
Next to French's body, investigators found a Styrofoam cup with the words "I am nothing" written across the lip.
Some officers commit suicide as they are facing discipline or firing -- a particularly bleak prospect for workers whose jobs are so intertwined with their identities, and who generally plan to spend an entire career at the CHP.
CHP Sgt. Brian Frank Nicholson killed himself at a Lake Tahoe overlook in 2006, three days after Folsom police searched his house while investigating a claim that Nicholson had molested a 3-year-old boy.
Sgt. Ross Chartier was on administrative leave and feared he might lose his job when he shot himself last March, according to the San Bernardino County coroner's report. His wife was gardening in the back yard of their Yucca Valley home when she heard a gunshot. She ran into the house and found Chartier's body lying on the floor next to their bed.
In other cases, the cause remains a mystery.
One morning last summer, Officer William Schlimmer was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on an athletic field in South San Francisco.
His wife told investigators that the father of two wasn't experiencing marital or financial difficulties. He had been issued a clean bill of health in a recent physical.
"The family ate dinner together last night and all seemed well," according to the San Mateo County investigation. "The subject's children went to school this morning as usual."
He left no note.

You wonder why?

These people have come to the conclusion that anywhere is better than here.

The truth is that 99% of CHP supervisors only care about the next rung on the career ladder.

Liability has made it so that a supervisor is there to protect the department, not the officer.

I had a friend, a fellow CHP officer, who committed suicide. She--yes, SHE--had some failures on relationships. Those failures put her in deep depression,. The depression led to actual illness. She missed work. Two sergeants went to her home. Later, they would say all that they asked or said was...When are you coming back to work. After they left, she sat down on her couch, took her duty weapon and shot herself though the heart.

The need to integrate psychological training with tactical training

Police training has, and continues, to evolve in many crucial ways. The paper bullseye has been replaced by mannequins and computerized targets; rubber knives by shock knives; plastic guns by simuntitions: and classroom lecture by reality-based scenario training.
However, one area that has not developed at the same pace is that of training officers in psychological performance skills.
When physical action is required, the focus centers (as it should) on physical police skills. Unfortunately, this is often to the exclusion of the important contribution that psychological performance skills training can have in maximizing the execution of physical skills. This might be considered a form of “training tunnel vision” that slows the development of psychological readiness, the survival and winning mindset, and mental toughness for many police officers.
Quite some time ago Remsberg (1986) noted the importance of mental training and preparation for police work. When considering factors that decided the outcome of a critical encounter, the factors that decided an officer’s “destiny,” he suggested the following:
In the mentally unprepared officer, physical factors accounted for 5%; psychological factors accounted for 5%; shooting skills accounted for 15%; and LUCK accounted for 75% of the outcome.

In the mentally prepared officer, mental factors accounted for 75% of the outcome, luck fell to 5% and the other factors remained the same.

The importance of mental preparation has been acknowledged from training in sport, withYogi Berra (a better player and coach than mathematician) being famous for saying:

The key to the success of the SEALs is their training – the real emphasis of which is not learning about weapons or gaining technical skills; it’s about strengthening people…
While there is often much talk in police training about the importance of developing and having psychological performance skills, the actual training is much less. At, best if psychological performance skills training is existent, it is inconsistent. Police and military training expert, Ken Murray, observed that:
Unlike the committed martial artist or soldier, the average police officer doesn't spend much time practicing the physical skills learned in departmental training, much less the emotional and psychological conditioning exercises needed to mentally place one "in the zone" when necessary.
Why psychological skills in police training and performance should at once be so valued and yet ignored is a difficult question to answer. One thing is clear, however; this is different from other areas where human performance occurs under pressure.
Firefighters, EMT's/Paramedics, Athletes, Physicians, the Military can all experience significant demands on their performance. However, while these professionals were once only told to manage their stress (or consider that maybe they didn't have the "right stuff"), there has been movement to training personnel to develop the psychological skills to engage in maximum performance during high stress responses.
“Get Over It” or “Deal With It” has been replaced with training on how to get over it or deal with it.
It is sometimes suggested that simulation training and reality-based training (when it occurs) helps develop psychological skills. There is truth to this and the incredible importance of reality-based training for overall police skills effectiveness can not be emphasized enough. (See Ken Murray's Training at the Speed of Life for an excellent argument for the need and description on how to do reality-based training).
However, this does not eliminate the need for direct psychological skills training.
Thompson & McCreary (2006) in discussing the enhancement of mental readiness in military personnel, note that there are several problems with the “implicit” training of psychological skills, that is, expecting mental toughness to develop as result of physical training and drills. This approach can
1. make mental toughness skills harder to learn, 2. delay the learning of physical and technical skills themselves because of a lack of mental toughness to master difficult tasks, 3. undermine operational effectiveness because of sub-optimal mental toughness, and 4. result in a sub-group of individuals who never develop sufficient mental toughness.
The explicit and designed training of mental toughness is more likely to be successful.
Beginning with Remsberg (1986), Anderson, Swenson, and Clay (1995), and Blum (2000) have described in greater detail some of the effective psychological training techniques as applied to general stress management and performance for law enforcement officers. Likewise, aspects of psychological performance training have been addressed by Grossman (2004), Murray (2004), Klinger (2004), Artwohl & Christensen (1997), Siddle (1995), Doss (1993) and others.
Yet, what has not been fully addressed is developing and expanding this work in a comprehensive and structured manner so that psychological techniques for performance enhancement can be integrated in training for all police skills and operations (including high stress situations) to maximize performance and/or manage the performance skewing effects of stress.
The psychological factor is recognized in many areas of human performance (sports performance probably being the most recognized). It is, in fact, the understanding and use of psychological performance skills that promotes what is called mental toughness.
While aggressiveness and the survival/winning mindset are part of mental toughness, it is more than this.
Mental toughness is possessing, understanding, and being able to utilize a set of psychological skills that allow the effective, and even maximal execution or adaptation and persistence of decision-making and physical skills learned in training and by experience. Mental toughness expresses itself everyday, as well as in high stress, critical situations.
The overriding goal of psychological skills training, then, is to provide police officers and trainers with a foundation in the psychological performance skills that can promote an optimal response in high stress calls. There are several additional goals that can occur, as well.
The first is to help maximize the quality of individual skills and overall response of police officers in all situations, not just those of high stress. A second goal is to enhance the confidence of police officers in handling the many different types of calls they face: confidence going into the call, during the call, and after the call is over. Experience and success after training are perhaps the best factors in the development of confidence, but psychological training can accelerate the process and provide support, especially early in an officer's career.
A further important application of psychological performance skills is to keep police skills fresh. Trainers and trainees in many aspects of law enforcement are well aware of the "stale beer effect;" the degrading of skill quality with non-use over time. Psychological techniques can help keep skills fresh even if not used regularly.
There is also the possibility of reducing critical incident stress reactions, as well. Honig & Sullivan in a 2004 issue of The Police Chief have written:
Stress survival strategies, including controlled breathing, positive self-talk, and visualization or mental rehearsal, trained to a level of confidence and competence, may be critical to both improved performance under stress and increased resilience after a traumatic incident.
The police officer, feeling maximally prepared and that his or her response was optimal, can feel good and comfortable with the effort, no matter what the ultimate outcome.
Psychological skills training is not a substitute for practice, experience and other police skills training. The concepts and techniques of a psychological performance kills program are meant to be integrated with other training to provide a truly comprehensive approach to the preparation and performance of police officers.
It is also well-recognized that each police officer and each police call, despite common characteristics, is unique. Therefore, psychological performance skills training should be evaluated and adapted for use by each officer for each situation as may be appropriate and comfortable for him or her.
While a comprehensive psychogical performance skills training can be quite involved, typical components include training in Tactical Arousal Control Techniques (to manage the "adrenalin dump" or create and maintain effective levels of alertness); Tactical Performance Imagery Techniques (for situation preparartion and mental practice), Attention Training and Concentration Enhancement (to strengthen and maintain appropriate focus), Tactical Performance Thinking (Tactical Self-Talk), Fear Management and Negative Thought Stopping Techniques.
It is clear that those who choose a police career already possess special character, and it is tested on a daily basis.. Whether in routine duty or special situations, each response provides the opportunity to demonstrate that character and protect and serve our communities. Psychological performance techniques can help police officers execute their duty more effectively and with greater safety leading to the ultimate goal of Winning the encounter (Street Survival Seminars, 2006).

This is sorely needed in Law Enforcement. I can't speak for the military totally, but I can say that incidents I've seen are negative toward "being prepared".

Law Enforcement Academies give the candidate the bare bones of what laws can be enforeced, and the policy of that Department. The problem is that you really can't control certain things.

EXAMPLE: After the Newhall Incident, the Californi Highway Patrol bgan to teach and train for Felony or "Hot Stops" . One night, we were getting four guys out of a reported stolen car. Everything went as the plan called for until the last guy in the right rear. The guy wouldn't get out. MY partner is yelling for the guy to get out. One of the proned-out suspects took a chance, turned his head and said:" He is afraid if he drops his hands to release the selt belt--you will shoot him."

To my observation, Police Departments intentionally put uncertainty and fear in the mix. There is NO fixed penaly for infractions of policy. The process can take up to 18 months to resolve an ALLEGED violation of policy.

If you are involved in a shooting, you will find out that you are suddenly made to feel that you are not a part of the department--you are a suspect--until a prosecutor decides to clear you.

But, that doesn't mean you are in the clear. You can bet some bloodsucking, parasitical, ethically challenged attorney is on his wayto sue YOU. Yes, he/she will name you and the department, but rest assured, the department will do its damndest to be dismissed from the lawsuit.

KNOW YOUR STATE LAWS.

Keep abreast of lawsuit decisions

KNOW your Department's Policies and Procedures backwards and forwards.

Knowledge is power. You will find that you might be charged with some infraction of policy, but ifyou knowe what that policy says, you will know if there is a case or not.

Venting--Pro and Con

That old-fashioned stiff upper lip that kept Americans calm during times of crisis may be coming back, replacing the notion that men and women alike should vent frustrations rather than maintain their composure.
University of Arkansas researchers are challenging the validity of theraputic hue and cry popularized in recent years by therapy groups, women's magazines and talk shows. Put a lid on it, they say. "While it is a common assumption that an angry person needs to blow off steam or risk going through the roof, research in psychology shows just the opposite," said psychologist Jeffrey M. Lohr, who concluded that "venting anger is at best ineffective and in some cases is even harmful."
Mr. Lohr did not mince words. "Expressing anger does not reduce aggressive tendencies and likely makes it worse," he said. With colleagues at Vanderbilt University and the University of Michigan, Mr. Lohr analyzed dozens of medical and academic studies of "anger expression" published since 1959. The team combed through accounts of people who took out their anger on inanimate objects, relatives, bystanders, employers and teammates. The results? The researchers discovered that those who had given into their hostility remained far more resentful in the aftermath than those who managed to stay calm. Even people coached to vent by hitting pillows or shouting did not fare well. The desired mental "catharsis" was not achieved, the researchers found.

The anger index is way up in America, meanwhile, fueled by road rage, workplace stress, family spats and ideological differences. Assorted surveys reveal we consistently rail against gas prices, the press, the judiciary, the health system, computers, weight loss, consumer culture and failed romance. We seethe over Hollywood, co-workers and the threat of terrorism. Some 16 million of us have "explosive rage disorder," according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

Underlying public anger has become so pronounced, in fact, that Men's Health magazine identified the 100 most angry cities in America in August, rating them by behavioral risk factors, plus health, traffic, labor and crime statistics. Orlando -- home to Disney World -- was the angriest city; Manchester, N.H., the least angry. Washington was rated the 25th most angry city; New York, the 57th.

Folks literally need to take a deep breath, Mr. Lohr said, adding that anger fades when people take deep breaths, relax or just take a timeout. Any action that "makes it impossible to sustain the angry state" can help defuse anger. "What people fail to realize is that the anger would have dissipated had they not vented. Moreover, it would have dissipated more quickly had they not vented and tried to control their anger instead," he added. Other research supports the idea. Cardiologists at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles found that women who outwardly express anger may be at increased risk for heart disease, according to a study released Jan. 15. In a study released last year, researchers at Ohio State University found that the public is showing an increased tendency to "use the news media to manage anger" by selectively choosing what they read or watch according to their mood at the moment.

This is a double edged sword. On the one hand, psychologists have been telling us to "Emote" and "Get it all out". Yet, if you do that, the panalty ranges from ostracism to incarceration and mandatory "Anger Management Counseling".

A good argument for not expressing your disdain for other people follows.

Horror Stories
I read with great interest the letter from the "Marine Mom" who was concerned for the safety of her son, because she had heard all those "horror stories" about boot camp. We WWII Marines are dying off at the rate of 1,000 per day, so I figured I best tell her what was on my mind. I may not be here tomorrow. Nice lady, I guess my Mom was very concerned for my safety, when, at the tender age of 17, plus one month, I enlisted here in Atlanta. Went to P.I. right? Nope. Went to San Diego MCRD. What ! ? The Sgt. told our draft of 6 guys that Parris Island was full up, and so we headed west. Arrived there about middle of Sept. 1943. The Marine Corps has its own special way of getting your complete, un-divided attention from the moment you step onto those "yellow footprints". There was a war going on, and The Corps was taking its share (and more) of casualties in the Pacific Theatre; our boot camp was 7 weeks. We had no Crucible then. The Corps needed grunts, who knew what to do with an M-1 rifle. Fortunately, I fired "high expert", which got me about $60.00 as winner of the platoon "pot"; a $5.00 per month salary increase for one year, and got me my PFC stripe. I survived Okinawa and 6 months of repatriating Japanese troops from North China back to their homeland. Ma'm, I hope you will read this from an 80 year old, former Marine, who loves his Corps and his country so much that were it possible, he would be in Iraq or Afghanistan right now. I don't know what sort of "horror stories" you are being fed, as coming from boot camp. I say to people like you, every time the occasion arises. "I want you to notice in detail everything about your son as he is leaving for boot camp; I want you then to notice everything about your "Marine" when you attend his Graduation, and when he receives his Eagle, Globe and Anchor. He will NOT be the same person you sent off to boot camp. Horror stories? I learned, during boot camp, that my father (he and mother were divorced) had tried to use his political influence to get me out of The Corps. (All three of his sons were now in the military - I was the youngest.) Now, if you want to hear horror stories, I have a few to share with you. The Corps (especially my D.I.) did not take kindly to "wimping out"; I found out there were guys who enlisted, then when the going got a little tough in boot camp, they would yell "I want out". That was not me; I wanted "in". Took me forever to convince the United States Marine Corps that I really intended making them a good Marine; after calling home and telling my Dad to "knock it off"; he had made my life miserable, life settled down to making a Marine out of a Georgia "redneck". Ma'm, the purpose of all this boring history is to hopefully convince you that the Marine Corps has told your son, and his entire platoon, that they will never make it through boot camp; they will never become Marines; they told me the same thing. Marine Corps "boot camp" is many things to many men, and now women. The Marine Corps has the finest discipline training, responsibility training, obedience training, respect training, self-discipline training, integrity training, honor training, Corps history training and educational training of any branch of service, with due respect to each branch. The horror stories you may have heard are coming from young men, such as your son, whose mettle is being tested and challenged at every turn, and who are being transformed, by the world's finest and most competent Drill Instructors, from likely self-centered individuals who could jump into their cars and head for McDonald's whenever they wanted to, into one of the world's most respected and admired "soldiers" - a United States Marine!. The horror stories you hear about come from the grunts and groans of these boots as unused muscles become like steel, lazy brains become quick as snake fangs and pride of accomplishment takes over. Your son is in good hands. Take it from one who has been there 64 years ago, and remembers most of it as if it all happened yesterday. Forget the horror stories. Just take a good look at the transformation in your son on Graduation Day. Semper Fidelis, Ma'm.

I enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to Boot Camp at MCRD San Diego on 30Oct73. I had nearly 5 years as a real Marine and was a Sergeant before I was busted for conduct unbecoming an NCO and busted in rank to 2nd Lieutenant in 1978. During the summer of 1979 I was assigned to the Midshipman Company at MCDEC Quantico. There were six of us 2nd Lieutenants and one Captain, Steve Rittacco in the Company. During the summer we hosted nine groups of Midshipmen from the Naval Academy, introducing them to the Marine Corps. Besides the week each group spent with us, they also spent a week aboard a Naval Air Station, and a week aboard a Submarine Base. The Midshipmen were there during the summer between their 2nd and 3rd years at the Annapolis. In 1986 I was serving in Okinawa when another Marine Captain called me by name. I did not recognize him but he knew me. He was one of the Midshipmen from that summer in Quantico. He told me that he had never considered joining the Marine Corps until that summer, he had been Navy all of the way. But after spending a week with Navy Air (being told how wonderful his life would be), then a week with the Submariners (being told how wonderful his life would be), and then a week with the Marines (being told this is the Corps and if you do not like it, too bad), he knew we were being honest, and was commissioned in the Marine Corps. I was just like him. The Army recruiter kept promising me pay raises, easy duty, and fun schools, but the Marine Recruiter in Boise, Idaho offered me a chance to prove I was good enough to be a Marine. On Boot Leave I made a point to thank him for that opportunity. When asked if I wanted an extension on Boot Leave I said, "No thank you, Master Sergeant. But can I go back early?" I come off leave early, headed off for my MOS training, and never regretted a day of the best 20 years of my life.

Any Marine who has survived Boot Camp, and all Marines have an entrance school- the Officer's version is THE BASIC SCHOOL. In the Basic School, Drill Instructors treat Officer Candidates like new boot recruits. The DI's have the power of GOD. IF a DI feels that a candidate can not lead, or that a candidate could get his/her Marines killed--that candidate is dismissed.

There are NO Promises of an easy life, country club settings, or a career after the Corps. The challenge is " Are you good enough to be a Marine?"

The reward:

Being a part of the best military force on earth.

Having a brotherhood that will never let you down, and a knowledge that YOU can never fail them. As a popular DI statement says: " I do not see Black-I do not see Brown--I do not see white--I see Marine Green. You are all Marine Green." Forget Race. Forget favoritism.

The point of this Entry is that most of these people got the crap knocked out of them. They were challenged to physical things that ordinary civilians are never expected to do. Yet, these men survived Boot Camp, and more seriously, often lately, Combat.

They would not trade these experiences or the fellowship for any bonus or lucrative job after separating from the Corps.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - LAPD Officer Edward Brentlinger remembers crouching behind a wall, popping his pistol as two masked bank robbers fired back with AK-47 machine guns.
Wounded bystanders screamed and other officers cried out that they'd been shot. Brentlinger's 27 shots merely bounced off the heavily armed - and armored - bandits.
"I could see the material on their (bulletproof) jackets go `poof,"' recalled the award-winning North Hollywood Division community-relations officer. "They were some bad ass guys.
"We didn't have the firepower to stop them."
Ten years ago today, two men armed with automatic weapons and clad in body armor did more than rob the Bank of America at 6600 Laurel Canyon Blvd.
For 44 thunderous minutes, they marched down the street, spraying stores and homes with 1,100 armor-piercing bullets, and wounding 11 police officers and six bystanders.
The more than 300 law enforcement officers fighting for their lives fired back with 750 rounds.
And the nation watched the terror unfold as news helicopters broadcast images of what became known as the North Hollywood shootout.

When it was over, the two bandits lay dead - one after shooting himself

and the other after bleeding to death from 29 gunshot wounds after telling police, "F--- you. Shoot me in the head."

Like the many holes still left by the hail of bullets, the spectacular gun battle transformed the Los Angeles Police Department, boosting its reputation after the Rodney King debacle while greatly improving its armed response.
With Los Angeles once considered the bank robbery capital of the world, with up to 900 heists a year, the LAPD implemented tactics after the shootout that cut robberies to fewer than 90 last year.
The shootout also left indelible marks on scores of cops and civilians. Many still suffer the depression, the nightmares and the flashbacks of battle-scarred soldiers.
And in a case of life imitating Hollywood, which many said mirrored the bank-robbing movie "Heat" of 14 months earlier, the shootout then inspired made-for-TV documentaries and movies.
"Our officers faced two savage individuals hellbent on destruction, who had brought with them automatic weapons and had prepared for an unspeakable amount of violence," said Deputy Chief Michel Moore, commander of the Valley Bureau.
"Our officers, though themselves not similarly equipped ... rose to the challenge."
City officials will conduct an anniversary ceremony today to honor those who helped stave off the North Hollywood bank bandits.
The gunmen in "Heat" had nothing on these guys.
Larry Eugene Phillips Jr., 26, was a gruff-looking man with a pencil mustache - a former grifter once arrested for real-estate fraud. He had a wife and two children.
Emil Dechebal Matasareanu, 30, was a scraggly haired, 283-pound native of Romania who suffered painful seizures after being struck in the head by a mental patient at his mother's home-operated day-care center.
He had brain surgery months before his death and was estranged from a wife and two kids.
A civil-rights lawsuit later filed on behalf of Matasareanu's two young children alleged he was deliberately allowed to bleed to death. It ended in a deadlocked jury, with the city ultimately agreeing to pay $50,000 in legal fees.
The former Altadena residents had once served a brief stint in jail for possessing what Glendale police said was a virtual bank robbery kit.
The two were later tied to two San Fernando Valley bank heists netting $1.67 million, as well as an armored truck robbery in which the guard was killed.
The cash was never found.
Ready for a fight
Veteran police Detective Jimmy Grayson, who participated in the exhaustive search for the money from California to Colorado, suspected it was all spent on guns, ammunition and previous medical expenses.
"It all makes sense," he said. "If you had money stashed, why go out and do another robbery? They were living large."
Phillips and Matasareanu triggered the Bank of America alarm at 9:15 a.m. Apparently enraged to find only $304,000 in its coffers, they beat a bank branch officer.
Slavic Zlatkin was waiting in a van for his father to make a deposit when the bandits walked out, firing their automatic weapons.
"I heard what was like a sledgehammer," said Zlatkin, now 33, of North Hollywood. "I got out of the van, the (car) window next to me shatters. I said, whoa!"
Carlos Lemus, a tire store employee heading to the bank to cash his paycheck, had turned around when he realized he'd forgotten his wallet.
"It's the luckiest thing I ever did," said Lemus, 48, who still works at the Goodyear shop.
Across the region, hundreds of police officers from various departments raced to North Hollywood to help quell the violence, including SWAT members who scrambled from Griffith Park, where they'd been training in running shorts.
Military veterans quickly recognized the telltale "blat" of the Russian-designed AK-47 assault rifle.
In machine-gun mode
The robbers, clad in cut-up Kevlar, emptied 100-round clips from a variety of weapons, sending hot rounds through concrete walls, iron fences, dozens of cars and through the walls of a nearby ice cream parlor and pizza joint.
A golden retriever was shot in the nose while on the way to his vet.
"Does any unit know how many officers are down?" asked a police radio dispatcher.
"More than one, more than one," responded a frantic officer recorded on audiotape.
During the standoff, frustrated police ran into the now-defunct B&B Gun Shop to grab high-powered weapons and ammo.
One man in a house behind the bank was so traumatized by the gunfire, according to his family, that he went into a diabetic coma within six months and died.
"My husband, who had diabetes, was very sick; he started shaking," said Yolanda Arreola, 64. "The robbery scared him to death."
Jose Haro had hit the floor in his locksmith shop across the boulevard from the bank when three police officers sought refuge in his kiosk.
Haro made his way into a nearby cleaners, where he pulled a woman to safety just as bullets shattered a window.
"After everything was over, I saw the bullet holes in my kiosk and my arms started to swell," said Haro, 73, who received an award from the county. "For eight months, I didn't sleep during the night."
Lasting impact
Dr. Jorge Montes, a dentist, risked his life to treat two wounded officers in his second-story office.
For his trouble, he suffered nightmares and a nervous tic in one eye. His father, worried during the ordeal, suffered a heart attack and died later from the anxiety, Montes said.
"The sound of bullets was so nerve-racking, it was as if we had no windows here," said the dentist, who also received an award.
During the shootout, most police remained calm, despite ineffective weapons, faulty radios and a command post relocated four times.
One seriously wounded officer who later quit the force and became a minister said: "I heard the devil; he told me: `You're gonna die, you're gonna die."'
It had been 13 years since Officer John Caprarelli had fired his service revolver. During the robbery, he was one of the first cops at the scene. He would fire 26 rounds from his 9 mm Baretta.
Before a national TV audience, Caprarelli ran to a street corner to draw fire from Phillips, emptied his gun, then leapfrogged over a fire hydrant for cover.
He can still hear the thump-thump of bullets whizzing through walls, or the phtt-phtt sound of rounds in the trees overhead.
He was the last man to stare into Phillips' eyes before the gunman shot himself after his assault rifle jammed.
"It was a proud day overall, a proud day for the department," said Caprarelli, a North Hollywood community-relations officer who received awards for his valor.
"Time heals," he said, crediting God for his recovery. "I knew nothing about post-traumatic stress. I didn't know I'd have to wake up each night at 1 a.m. in the morning, reliving the shootout.
"I can't watch war movies anymore, like `Wake Island.' I can't stand the auto gunfire. I saw `Heat' before it happened - I bought it - but I can't watch it now.
"It tears me up."

TWO LESSONS:

LESSON #1....Before this incident, all police agencies had the following firepower: The Officer's sidearm, and shotguns. Sidearms are good for about 45 feet, and the bullets will not penetrate any thing thicker than a 1 x 4 board. Shotguns are good up to about 30 feet, then the 00 buckshot spreads so wide you are not sure any of the pellets will hit the target.

The Officers had to break SEVERAL California Gun laws to get firepower to match these two thugs. Luckily, Johnny Sutton ( Ramos-Campeon) wasn't the City or County District Attorney.

This incident got Police Administrators to pull their heads out of their asses. Before they had two reasons not to buy "Assault Weapons" to match the bad guys:

1. The weapons look threatening, and police might get a "Storm trooper" image.

2. The cost of each weapon impacted their budget. They would rather--and this is a FACT--spend the money on PR campaigns like Sober Driver or Designated Driver

LESSON#2...You are only affected by a shooting as much you have been programmed to. This applies two ways. First, if you are hit by enemy fire, you will either go down, convinced you are severely injured--or stay in the fight. If you have been trained, like Marines and Special Ops, you will fight on, and ignore your wound. Secondly, you will be as traumatized by seeing others shot as much as you let yourself be. GO BACK TO "WHAT IT MEANS". Part of being a"Rough Man" consists of building a psychological callous. Yes, you will see persons--maybe some of them close--get hit, and possibly die. You can't let it slow or stop you. You can't hesitate. This callousness will get you an "Insensitive" label.

Congresswoman McCarthy of New York has reintroduced the Assault Weapon Ban in the US Congress, and the large capacity magazine ban as well.

It is currently in committee, now is the time to stop it in its tracks. It goes beyond the past ban in several ways. There will be no renaming of guns or making cosmetic changes to skirt the ban.

There is no exception for using US parts to avoid the ban. Guns are named by model as banned including all AK style, all AR-15 style, all FAL and H&K style rifles, M1 Carbines are named specifically, as well and many others.

All magazines over 10 rounds are banned. Additionally it gives the Attorney General the power to unilaterally determine that even though used for a sporting event, it doesn't mean your firearm has a sporting purpose and can be banned as a non-sporting gun. (doublespeak at its finest.) You will not be allowed to sell your existing military arms directly to another individual.

Now is the time to impress on your Representatives in Congress that the last ban had no effect and we will not tolerate the continual erosion of our freedoms in this country by special interests and agendas. The full text of the bill can be found

When is an award not deserved?

Any more, constantly!

We see Al Gore getting Academy Awards for a documentary that is Fiction.

We see clowns, dictators, and thugs being awarded The Nobel Peace Prize.

Thank the Lord that the Military has not seen fit to hand out top medals to soldiers, Marines, and sailors in Iraq for just doing their jobs. This was a common practice I discovered in Vietnam. You want an example? Jack Murtha, never got out of a bunker, never heard a shot fired in anger, but he got medals and is "A decorated hero".

This is the Liberal Tactic: Take something that USED to be very valuable, and richly deserved, and give it to some suckass, or some Liberal darling, like Jimmy Carter.

It isn't only in adult endeavors. Liberals now have little league games, and soccer games where yo do not keep score. Grades K-9 in a lot of schools get no report cards or grades.

My conclusion is that Liberals want to feel as heroic as Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone--without the risk. They want to feel as creative as a Van Gogh, without ever painting a picture. They want to feel as brave as a soldier in Iraq, without ever facing a threat. To do this, they cheapen the efforts of real artists, first responders, and defenders to make themselves feel good.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Men who are going to be in confrontations have to be trained. Some have to get a 13 week session, some have been trained since they were old enough to talk, and others will get a combined dose.

What the training prepares you for is THE CONFRONTATION.

When you are suddenly thrust into a CONFRONTATION:

You do not have time to weigh the benefits and consequences of your reaction.

You do not have the time to try to verbally convince your confronter that he she should not try to overcome you or kill you.

Once you have been involved in a CONFRONTATION:

You will learn that criticism is certain. You will hear all kinds of Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda. People who never ever faced the possibility of having their ass kicked will be instant experts on use of force.

Psychologists will opine that you could have done several other things other than kill your opponent.

Wussies and women will call you a savage, and wonder how you became so brutal.

Legal experts, JAG Corps and attorneys, will debate what you did--If you did it legally, did you follow policy and procedure, or observe the Rules of Engagement. Often, to guarantee their own employment, they will charge you with a violation, and be concerned with the following trial or Court Martial. You, and a confronter, enforcer, or enforcer, can NOT consider this at the CONFRONTATION. Hesitation will give the advantage-however slight--to your opponent, and he will probably kill you.

So, in the minds of "Normal" people, you are a "rough man".

They do not want to BE you, do not want to do what you do, and feel free to offer criticism and accusation. Often, they are jealous as Hell of you. Regardless, your function of to save their ass.

Why can't I just say I'm a doctor, then be one?

Why can't I just say I'm broke and draw public funds?

Why can't I just make up an I D card and go into a facility like the nuclear power plant near San Clemente, California?

Why not?

Because there laws, with penalties for violating them, that prohibit all of these actions and statements.

The ones who take these laws the most seriously are the ones who make those laws, elected officials, politicians. Yet, these politicians are very selective about who those laws are enforced upon.

YET--the same politicians do not seem to have a problem with (IA's)Illegal Aliens . IA's come here-illegally, drive cars-illegally, commit crimes and are not arrested, and if arrested, District Attorneys REFUSE to prosecute, stating that the perpetrator can not be positively identified.

Why Duncan Hunter

Why would you vote for Duncan Hunter for President?

Many reasons.

As you can see, Congressman Hunter has voted Conservative all his career, with no apologies to the "Kinder. gentler crowd".

I worked for his sister, who is a member of an endangered species--an honest attorney. My task was to investigate stories related by potential plaintiffs, and to verify those stories. From her, I found that Duncan Hunter and I went to the same law school at the same time.

REASON: Duncan's father was relatively well off, but that didn't mean that Duncan got everything given to him. Take for instance, he went to Western States University--on the GI Bill.

CONTRAST: The Kennedys, the Bushs, the Romneys, going to Yale and Harvard on Daddy's money. Those SOBs wouldn't know what it is to do a day's work, or how to budget what you earned that day.

REASON: You have seen Duncan's voting record. He has had the same positions, and advocated the same causes for 26 years. He has had the same wife for 26 years.

CONTRAST: Guiliani wanted strict gun control, and has changed wives.

In 1959, we were seniors in Kingman High School. Very strange, but in the summer of 1958, I had a dream about a girl in my class.

Her name was Evelyn. I dreamed that I went to the Prom with Evelyn.

Now, I knew this was "just a dream" because Evelyn was about the most popular girl in school, although she wasn't a raving beauty.

However, when we began the senior year, with a class of 53( Yes, I know--High School classes in most places are in the thousands), I was elected Class President only because I was not afraid to talk to the principal and teachers, or to give speeches to assemblies and the speech at graduation.

Evelyn was elected Class Treasurer, and given charge of assembling the yearbook. We began to do things together.

The Prom was coming. I was almost ashamed to ask her, because:
In those days NO student had a car. Hell, I didn't have a driver's license. My folks would not sign a paper taking responsibility for me.

It was beneath my pride for her to drive ME in her mother's car.

I had a best friend, John Hopeman. John's father was the chief of the Ford Test Track west of Kingman, and had allowed John to BUY a car from Ford after testing was done on it.

I talked to John and said " What am I going to do?"

John said " Take my car".

We did.

After the Prom, we drove out a way from Kingman, stopped, and just had the radio on and talked.

It got time to go. I turned the key and NOTHING. OH-God! Am I going to be in trouble--and we were ten miles from anything.

Evelyn calmly said--It has to be in Park. ( I wasn't familiar with automatic transmissions--I had driven tractors and jeeps on the ranch. )

It started and we went home.

The greatest gift that night was: I was with my dream girl, and she didn't belittle my for my ignorance.

5. You are hypocritical in the application and imposing your ideas on the majority. You would want those measures imposed on the United States--but would exclude China and India, the countries with major industry and population.

You always have to be careful about trying to remedy a situation. Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave us "Welfare" in response to an economic problem.

Yes, you can get by by claiming poverty or disability, but your "benefit" is going to come from a bureaucratic government agency. You will quickly find that all you have to do to get these "benefits" is to give up your self-respect, dignity, and privacy.

A correlation is what people regard as to their protection. Where, at one time, most folks were farmers or ranchers, and essentially grew their own food, we now look to grocery stores, or in the case of welfare recipients, Food Stamps.

Now, people ASSUME that a government agency will protect them. Locally, you are led to believe that a call to 9 1 1 will bring a police car within 5 minutes. Truth: In most southern California locations, you will be very lucky to get a police agency on scene within 30 to 45 minutes.

Federally, most people ASSUME our military will protect us from invasion or attack. That is true if you are facing an organized, uniformed armed force. However, the enemy we face now spends millions of dollars and Pounds to lead you to believe that they are "Just like you" and "only wish to be respected".

Very few sources will tell you the truth about this "Peaceful religion". The main media will ignore their foaming-at-the-mouth rants by a "religious leader", telling his assembly that they "have to kill all Jews and Americans".

Socialists and dreamers in this country have fostered the idea that "If you get rid of guns, violence will disappear".

The net effect is that Americans are a bunch of sheep, depending on the herder for protection, and often critical of how the herder does his job.

In my life, I have concluded from much observation, discussion, and evidence that there are two unique traits to Liberals:
Fantasy and hypocrisy.

Today, this will be about their fantasy.

Example 1.

If you raise the minimum wage to $10 per hour, poverty will disappear.

This totally disregards the law of Supply and Demand.

What will happen is that those lower on the skills level will be let go, because their work isd not worth $10 per hour. Prices of goods and services will raise to meet costs of doing business. So, those out of job by this action, can't afford any goods or services.

Example 2.

Take everyone's guns away, and there will be no violence.

Reality- As one old bumper sticker says: When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

Now that is especially distressing, given the constraints placed on law enforcement by the ACLU, politicians, and budget cuts. A friend retired from a Sheriff's Department in Oregon when they cut 10 Deputy positions to give the homeless more money.

The highest locations of crime are New York City and Washington DC. Both make it completely illegal to have a gun. And, take Mexico. Every week, more dead people are found with their throats cut or decapitated,

Example 3.

If we just try to get along with terrorists, we can get along.

From years of working as a law enforcement officer, I know that there are people who do not respond to requests, who do not negotiate, who do not respect authority. These people will kill you, and have no regrets. It actually increases their resume when they brag about theirexploits in prison.

The people mentioned respect IMMEDIATE, OVERWHELMING FORCE.

They are only deterred by a conviction that non-compliance will result in severe injuries or death to themselves.

What compounds the harm of the Liberal's fantasy is that there is always a Liberal available to criticize an officer or soldier, who, when facing one of these vicious thugs, does use force.

I wish I could get it, but Huell Howser has a series on PBS called California Gold. He has an episode illustrating that when WWII started, there was Cavalry at Camp Lockett, near what is now Campo, CA. Howser interviewed some of the Horse Soldiers , who trained for WWII, but were never used with their horses in battle.

Older men, now in their 70's would get misty eyed or cry openly when recalling their mounts.

If you have a horse, and get to know them, they are like your children. You wouldn't sell your son or daughter for slaughter, and once you have your horse for a month or more, you wouldn't let your horse be miostreated or killed for some Frenchie's appetite.

The state Supreme Court said yesterday that police officers can keep job performance records private when appealing disciplinary action in civil service hearings, a ruling that all but eliminates public scrutiny of allegations of misconduct by law enforcement.

The 6-1 decision came in a case involving a San Diego deputy sheriff and The Copley Press, publisher of The San Diego Union-Tribune. After a 2003 disciplinary hearing was closed at the deputy's request, the newspaper sought the records via the state Public Records Act.
Justice Ming Chin, who wrote the majority opinion, ruled that the records act can't be used to get documents otherwise shielded by police privacy laws passed by the Legislature.

Those laws hold that the personnel records maintained by the officers' “employing agency” are confidential and can be disclosed only in limited circumstances.

Public access advocates said the decision is a significant blow to efforts by the media and the public to monitor police misconduct and how governments deal with it.

“With this decision it is going to be very difficult to identify who an officer is in any situation where misconduct is an issue, or even where a controversy exists,” said Tom Newton of the California Newspaper Publisher's Association.

The association was one of several media and public access advocacy groups that filed legal papers supporting the newspaper.

But lawyers for police labor unions said the decision was correct because it simply enforced the strong privacy protections in state law that the unions – a powerful presence in the state Legislature – have been able to gain for peace officers.

This post will be entirely my opinions, instincts, and experiences.

QUESTION @1...When you ( A man) are able to talk to a woman, and you have a strong like for this woman, and it is apparent that feeling is reciprocated, and NOT based on some potential monetary, material, or financial benefit to this woman... Why is it almost always assumed that you--the man- are trying to obtain some sexual favor from that woman?

If I answered that, my answers are:
A. The guys asking if I have obtained those favors yet, and what quality of pleasure did I receive--are the same dumbsh*ts who have a subpoena for a lawsuit, claiming an action for Sexual Harassment, somewhere in their future. An old phrase: You suspect of others what you know to be truse of yourself.

QUESTION #2. I see a woman, somewhat like the attached photo. She is feminine as far as I can tell ( It is not a He-She, a guy who hasn't had a sex change yet) She looks good, she smells good, she has feminie gestures, and I find her very easy to talk to.
WHY do most men want to terminate my association and deter any that they might have with this STUPID phrase:" She's a Dyke!".

Maybe she is Gay. SO WHAT? She is a human being, has feelings, blood in her veins, and I'm sensing a good person. I really enjoy this person's presence. And some dumbsh*t demonstrates his perceived superiority with " She's a Dyke".

Few former drug users recruited to LAPD despite new lenience
LOS ANGELES - Despite police Chief William Bratton's policy permitting recruitment of former drug users - a move decried by critics as too lenient - the police department still has "one of the most conservative policies" in the country, a city official told the Police Commission on Tuesday.
Only six admitted former drug users were hired from January 2004 to April 2006 while 866 were rejected, said Phyliss Lynes, assistant general manager of the city's personnel department.
"After checking with law enforcement agencies throughout the state and throughout the country, I can tell you that we have, still, one of the most conservative policies or criteria as it relates to this issue," Lynes said.
She said two of the recruits admitted to one-time cocaine use years ago and the others said they couldn't remember whether they used illegal drugs, but said it was possible.
"The real question is how long it has been since the person last used these drugs," Lynes told the commission.
Bratton, facing dwindling recruitment, has said one-time experimental drug use should not preclude employment in the department.

Why the reluctance?

Because anyone in authority has become job security for attorneys.
EXAMPLE: In Poway, CA, the School Board, going along with pop culture, banned "Hate Messages" . A student wore a T-shirt that says the homosexuality is perversion. Student is told to go home, change shirt, then come back. Student sued. Case is still being litigated after the Ninth Circuit Court of Clowns agreed with the School Board.

Lawsuits are public information. That public information may block you from being able to sell property or arrange financing.

In LAPD's case, getting recruits is becoming more and more difficult. Why?
Again, attorneys LOVE to sue governments (READ=DEEP POCKETS).
They way they get to sue is if SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING. Who does the most, is the most visible? The Police Department.

Why sign up for something when you are almost guaranteed to be sued?

While thousands of soldiers are still deep inside Lebanon, millions of civilians are slowly coming out of the bomb shelters and hundreds of families are mourning their sons - many of whom are still to be buried - the prime minister concluded the second war in Lebanon in his Knesset address Monday.
It wasn't just an address to the nation; Olmert gave his version of the war. From now on the version presented at the Knesset will become the official version presented by his advisors, his attorneys, his aides and his supporters when they try to prevent the setting up of a commission of inquiry and when they try to stabilize the coalition and prevent discord within the Kadima party ranks.
Olmert is an excellent orator. He combines a measured dose of emotion and rationalism with poetic anecdotes and matter-of-factness. It was an expected speech, and its timing important. It came at a time when the public was attuned to the messages, its emotions yet to be consolidated.
However, Omert directed his speech primarily at public opinion. At the public sitting at home still unable to digest the developments of the past month. The public's stance will in the coming weeks become a deciding factor on whether and what type of commission of inquiry will be set up.
This was the reason Olmert addressed everyone yesterday, and I mean everyone, with a warm embrace. No one escaped his embrace: not the chief-of-staff, the commanders, the soldiers, the bereaved families, the abducted soldiers' families, the security and rescue forces, the mayors, the volunteers, the northern citizens, the people of Israel, the Knesset members, the defense minister, the foreign minister, nor the cabinet members – no Israeli citizen could argue that he did not appear on the list of Olmert's credits.
Olmert called on everyone with paternal moderation, including those who may have been disappointed - as mentioned in passing as if it were a trivial complaint: friends, have patience, patience. Or in other words, you are yet to discover we won.
Netanyahus' address no less important
Benjamin Netanyhu's address was no less important than Olmert's. As head of the opposition, he could have taken advantage of the moment and challenged the leadership. He could have protested, as Begin did, following the Yom Kippur War by asking why they didn't bring the armament closer? Netanyahu could have accused Olmert's government of failure; he could have called for a legal commission of inquiry. He could have conveyed a message that he was the right person to replace Olmert as prime minister, that there is an alternative to a failed cabinet.
However, Netanyahu chose to maintain a low profile. Perhaps his bitter experience in previous instances silenced him; perhaps he found it difficult to abandon the image he had acquired during the war, an image of a stately opposition leader of fine caliber. His speech was excellent. It was controlled and careful. He managed to maintain this sterile image, almost without friction. The applause coming from the plenum attested to his growing popularity.
The two speeches delivered by the prime minister and the opposition leader met on the Knesset podium. They addressed a country licking its wounds at the end of a war plagued with question marks. Despite the circumstances, Netanyahu didn't take advantage of the situation for a knockout shot, if there had been a duel it took place without firing a single shot.
Perhaps Netanyahu was right when he decided that this wasn't the time to rock the boat, to call for a commission of inquiry at this point in time.
And perhaps, Netanyahu like Netanyahu, lost the moment because of his stateliness.
Nothing can better demonstrate the problem in the Knesset. It is a big happy club with its members sitting in that building being more important than the welfare of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Chief William J. Bratton announced on August 14 that Hollenbeck Area Officer James Tuck, 26, remains in good spirits, despite sustaining serious injuries from an AK-47 assault late Saturday night.
"This was an attempted assassination on two police officers," Chief Bratton said. "We can credit the officers’ quick reactions and excellent training for keeping these two violent criminals from getting away. I am very thankful that neither officer was killed."
The incident took place in the Montecito Heights area when Officer Tuck and his partner, Officer John Porras, 48, made a traffic stop. As their police car rolled to a stop behind the vehicle, a passenger violently emerged, charging the officers and spraying the police car with high-velocity rounds.
